An interview with Kimi, but as usual he makes the reporter work pretty hard for the answers, and doesn't want any comparisons with Schumacher.

The word from within Ferrari is that Raikkonen is giving 100 per cent, but in his own way.

I want to do as well as I can. It doesn't matter who's been there before or what has happened before. I just want to do my own thing.

Well why should he be compared to Schumacher? He's his own driver. I doubt the comparisons to Hakkinen did him much good.

I agree, but when he takes Schueys place at Ferrari, straight after he has retired, there has to be the expectation that some comparisons will be made.

I think in this sort of a situation, Kimi's natural reticence will hold him in good stead. In not saying much, he's allowing himself the opportunity to allow his performances speak for him.
There is no way that he should be analysing whether or not taking over from MS adds pressure. He'd rather spend his energies in getting to know the car and the team and learn to make it go fast.

He genuinely can't give a stuff about the media <bow>

As long as FERRARI have realised that he is different to Schumacher (can't have taken them long roflmao), then there will be no problem :)

Does it matter? I would say that Kimi is very different on many levels to MS. I imagine the team think they can now pick up any driver and push him where he wants. Like Williams seemed able to do once. It's a dangerous path for Ferrari. Perhaps that's why MS is hanging around. Thinking he can translate Kimis needs to the team.

Kimi says he has not talked to Michael about the car:

"The last time I spoke to him was at the car launch last month. We talked just about normal things — nothing to do with driving or how the team works."

I am unsure if this is good or bad thing. I can see how Michaels presence might irritate Kimi but I can also see how it might be useful. He's retired now of course but he was a bit handy in his day or so I have heard.

What advice would MS give though? How to win? Kimi knows. I'd say the only difference is that Schumacher is a considerably more intelligent driver than Kimi...and stuff like that can't be taught. It seems clear that Kimi doesn't want Schu's help...perhaps Ferrari should respect this.

Well, for one thing Michael might be better able to communicate with the engineers than Kimi. Michael has a long relationship with these guys and maybe better able than Kimi to articulate problems with the car. Can Michael speak Italian? Can Kimi speak in anything other than monosyllables?

But I am just guessing. I just thought it would be a shame for all that good stuff locked up in Michaels head were to go to waste. But from the quote it looks like Ferrari are not forcing Michael on to Kimi. It was I who pondered whether such a union might prove fruitful.
