Fisi needs more than a car that will keep pace, he needs one about a second a lap faster.

He may need a car that is a little faster but I think that a whole second is the worst case of exaggeration I have seen, ever, in the whole world.

Give Fizzy a couple of tenths and he'll be there or thereabouts. I don't think it is beyond Renault to do that.

Fisi isn't that slow you know, in qualifying last year when the renault was fast he was up on the front row with Alonso in Spain and Canada and close to snatching pole, he was ahead of him in Australia and in malaysia(although Alonso did heave twice the fuel load on board) but Fisi won the race.

Fisi also faired better in Indy and in Germany than FA(although of course he wasn't allowed to finish ahead of him). Fisi was also beating Alonso in China too.

Fisi can be a fast driver as he showed sometimes against Alonso and in fact more times than you might think.

Fisi's main problem is mistakes during races, maybe that was a case of trying too hard to match Alonso, who knows but this is something he will need to sort out and 2007 will be his last chance so we may see some improvment in this area.

If the renault is fast and of course without Alonso being there I think Fisi can compete at the top quite often and renault have Heikki who I am predicting to make an impact and score alot for renault.

Yeah but he was the equivalent of 6 race wins behind Aloonso by the end of the season. Inexcusable really.

The only time Fisi was able to beat Alonso was when he really struggled like
germany and the US gps last season but when FA was doing a good job Giancarlo struggled to get within half a second of him.

I have been thinking for ages of a way defend Fizzy against this libellous charge.

I am still thinking but I WILL think of something (probably) and when I do you'll be sorry.

Fisi is another Ralf Schumacher/Riccardo Patrese clone. They spend most of the time trailing in the dust of their teammate, and the suddenly, usually when their contract is up for renewal, they produce a burst of shockingly quick speed, and everyone wonders why they couldn't do that all season! Typically, they're an 'in the mood' driver - ie quick if they can be arsed....

Yeeees ..... but that isn't much of a defence against DC202's murderous accusation is it?

I don't think we can use that one. I was thinking of something more along the lines of how Flav always favoured Fernando and how poor Fizzy hasn't really had a fair chance yet, judge him at the end of the season and other platitudes like that.

Thanks for your idea though.
