Those of you around when Eddie Irvine was on the Formula 1 circuit will remember how full of crap he was. He was always the first one to criticize other drivers, criticize other teams and whine in general, but in truth had little to back it up, other than the best F1 car at that time under his arse! Hired to play Michael Schumacher’s whipping boy Eddie, soon got ideas above his station and rumor has it that he actually thought he was good! Though this is unconfirmed, he ego was big enough to make me believe it was true. Eddie soon became the most disliked driver on the F1 roster to many, even some die hard Irish fans found his over the top beliefs of self glory hard to bear. My question is, is Mark Webber starting to remind you of Eddie? He talks a big game, but in all honesty has not set the world on fire with his brilliance. Eddie could be forgiven a little, because unlike Mark, he actually had won a few races (albeit because of the Ferrari factor). Webber has been ungracious with his criticism of Jaguar and now Williams. Maybe Mark should go in our trophy room with “The Eddie Irvine Trophy” ,engraved with his name on it. |

Poor Mark, I actually thought that he was going to be in with a chance when he went to Williams, but unfortunately it wasn't a good time for them. I think he's probably a little bitter because he went there full of high hopes and got let down by the team who no doubt probably blamed him for the team's lack of performance. I always get the feeling that Williams is a little like a too tight knit family with everyone stabbing each other in the back. They practically sacked 3 of their last champs, Mansell, Hill and Villeneuve. What's all that about! Like the car is too good for the driver and they believe they can make anyone champion so lets just get any chump, or chimp for champ. I'd give Webber some slack, he showed some flair at Jaguar. He's definately no Eddie Irvine. Just look at the number of drivers who've left the team recently with a sour taste in their mouths, can you really blame you know who for wrangling his way out of his contract? |

Well they made JV, and an aging Prost WDC's. We all know Frank has never been real loose with the purse strings, and that no driver has ever won multiple titles with Williams, but in this case I don't recall anyone with the Williams team blaming Webber for his lack of success. I think Webber is just being a bit of a tosser. |

What Mark said may have come across badly and maybe he shouldn't be so vocal but he is probably not far wrong about Williams. Mark isn't a politician or a skilful wordsmith but when he was employed by the team they welcomed his straight-talking, no-nonsense, no bullshit style. Williams let Mark and themselves down badly and they admit. Mark is saying what he sees, nothing more, nothing less. Possibly he was a bit tactless, but what would you expect from an Aussie bloke? Are you also one of those who also complains about how drivers never have a personality any more? |

I personally always quite liked him but what do I know. I think they all have to act like nobs from time to time otherwise they'll look too crispy Klien if you know what I mean. It's all gone a bit corporate. We don't need legends we need more James Hunts lol, well lol he is a legend for other reasons. |

I don't have a problem with racers speaking their mind, like Alonso's latest statement about Maca's car, Alonso is a two time WDC and he knows what car behaviors suit him best, and what it takes to win races and WDC's. Webber doesn't know what it takes to win at this level. Obviously Williams have not been at their traditional level in the past 2 years, but it is not like Webber has regularly been driving beyond the car's capabilities either. |

Mark Webber is a typical Aussie, full of it when on the up and full of sh1t when things don't go their way. I'd like to see DC stick it to him this year. |

I can never make my mind up about MW....whether I actually like him or not that is.......He seems to whine quite a bit which sucks but at least he's got a mouth on him rather than just pulling the party line all the time. I don't think he's lived up to his early promise; by that I mean his earlier days in minardi, I reckon a lot of his perceived speed at Jag was down to fuelling the car light for Q sessions...thus giving the illusion. If anything I think he had more promise than Irvine ever did, but delivered less; Irvine did turn out some good results but ultimately should've won the WDC but screwed it up instead. I fear that MW's true chance to shine has passed, unless the Newey designed car is up to it.........he's gonna be considered Old soon, especially with the likes of Hamilton, Rosberg and Kubica about. |

yeah Webber came into the game a little late by todays standards. I thought that if he was ever going to do anything, and he was to live up to the hype, he would need a good car underneath him VERY soon! Maybe his plan was to join Red Bull to look 20 times beter than his team mate (and every team mate of Coulthard does), then get offered a Ferrari drive in 08 when they sack Raikkonen! |

That would be a crazy plan....I reckon he at least expects to come out on top and quite frankly he should...... I wonder what Flavio Briatore is thinking about Webber nowadays: where should I palm him off to next, or screw it I should have put him in one of my renaults instead of Fisi???? |

This is plain wrong. Regardless of anything else Mark has a contract with Red Bull for more than one season. Look at Rubens, difficult to imagine that he could possibly have had a worse season than he did last year and he's older than Mark. Is he "finished"? A driver is as good as their last season. Mark could have a poor season this year and if he followed it up with a real stormer next his stock would rise again. |

I agree that Mark really should be expecting to finish ahead of DC. David is a benchmark. If Mark cannot beat David he might as well forget any pretensions he may have to winning a title. Flavio is a bit of an old queen. I think he is punishing Mark for going to Williams against his advice. Mark will probably never drive a Renault. |
