Nothing wrong with thinking Nascar is boring, stradlin. Just because you like it doesn't mean everyone has to.

correct, if you think NASCAR is boring, thats your opinion

i think F1 is like watching paint dry! thats my opinion!

Nascar is as boring as reading your constant moaning about F1. We know you don't like it...why not stick to your own forum instead of just filling this one with your anti-f1 opinions?

It looks extremely dangerous ,pitstop said there were 50 cars then no wonder there are so many bad crashes on that small a track you could see why it doesnt attract many big name stars.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UJ5jD6OJiE

yep!

most f1 drivers are scared to death of NASCAR and IndyCar

No...they just regard F1 higher.

Yea that was a great finish, going back to one of your earlier posts saying that f1 drivers are scared i seem to remember a certain Montoya winning the cart championship in his debut year(im not sure it could have been his second) and dominating the indy 500 yet when he came to f1 he didnt have the skill to beat the best in the business over the season.

ah, you picked a bad one there

he didnt 'dominate' the 2000 Indy 500 AND the Champ Car championship that he won races more on road courses and NOT ovals

JPM arrived at Indy that year at Ganassi, a massive multi-million dollar organisation with teams in all kinds of different series

he had access to the best equipment, the best pit crew, the best of everything

Yes, he drove a great race

but, he was so nearly caught by a guy driving for a tiny team with a low budget and very very little resources

Buddy Lazier was the man and he pushed JPM VERY close!

it was NOT the dominent win that people say it was

a little clip hear of the amazing Lazier in his sub standard equipment chasing down JPM in the mighty Ganassi

I thought I'd try to watch it with an open mind. After all, the only person to lose out if I don't enjoy it is me, right?

So I tried.

Funnily enough the first things I realised was that I truly, madly, deeply hated the commentary, it sounds like the horse racing or like the commentator is trying very hard to convince you that what you are seeing is actually very exciting.

But I persevered and watched the full clip.

All in all while I can see that it requires a lot of skill it left me cold. It didn't look like *racing* it all seemed a bit contrived and plasticky.

I think some of it may be that I don't really understand it. I didn't understand for example why at one point there were three cars abreast and then one of them pulled into the lead as the other two fell back. Why? Was it more power, better line through corner or positioning on the banking?

The only bit that moved me was whenever I thought that one of the cars was getting a little bit too close to the wall .... THEN it was scary!

I can see that it might be better if you actually go to watch the races, I found watching races live at European style tracks frustrating and boring.

But on balance it is not for me.

they drive at huge speeds

the littliest drop on the throttle means you drop back, and at over 200mph, you would react to any little movement up or down the track by another car

the conseuqences of wheel to wheel contact can be lethal but it does happen

but yes, you don't fully understand whats goes on open wheel oval racing

it is the only true test of a drivers bravery, anywhere, anytime, any place

Well that last bit is nonsense. You need to accept that not everyone likes oval racing.
