How many times does this have to be said.

Winter Testing times mean absolutely nothing. The teams are doing all sorts of tests. That's why it's called TESTING.

It's only F1 hacks and fans starved of news who read anything into testing times.

Don't believe me? Look at the Feb 2006 testing times and compare with race results.

There are always lots of things you can learn from testing and sometimes the racing does follow what happened in testing.

In 2005 the mclaren and renault were generally the best in testing and they were the two teams competing for the championship.

It is clear from the current testing that Red Bull and Honda are not there yet, mclaren look decent, and that Ferrari despite being fast are having some technical glitches. It might change in the next tests but if you read between the lines you can learn some info.

Yes lots of false impressions are made from testing but its certainly not 100% and I can't resist looking at the times.

I seem to recall Honda being on top and Ferrari nowhere (could be wrong, as I can't find Feb 2006 testing data - mainly because I haven't looked for them).

Perhaps one can draw conclusions about reliability from the testing, but race speed? I don't think so.

May the hounds of hell rip you soul apart and feed it to the rats!

If testing was called Pinocchio, its nose would stretch from London to Birmingham (Alabama)!

Sold to the highest bidder already, I'm afraid.

Reading anything into testing times is always hard as we don't know what programmes the teams are running, but I think we can safely say that Honda have finally abandoned their "run light and look good" policy they adopted from 2005 onwards.

Either that or they're totally screwed!

I can't possibly know what Honda are up to, but on paper, or on screen or whatever, they're not looking good, however, I have a feeling that they've just got their heads down and are not getting involved in the usual limelight rush in an attempt to look good and later screw-up like they did last year. I can't believe that after the run they had last season that they're right at the back again.

I don't think it is wise to say things like 'Mclaren and BMW were top yesterday so they will be the teams on the pace at Melbourne', but you have to say that neither Honda or Red Bull have done anything to suggest they are going to have a good start to the season. They are having a lot of mechanical issues, and that is preventing them from developing their car.

They are unveiling their 2007 livery at some point in the near future, it will be interesting what the team has to say about their testing so far.
