With Coulthard’s career coming to a close (2 seasons max IMHO), do we have any Scots to take his place? Our pals from North of the border have a magnificent racing heritage, but I wonder who is in the lesser series waiting to carry the tartan torch? So who do you feel will be the next Scottish F1 driver? |

Have to agree - there's no young Scottish drivers that are standing out. I feel that F1 missed out on two great Scottish talents in Allan McNish and Dario Franchitti. McNish had several testing contracts in the early 90's but was never offered a full-time drive. By the time he was given a race seat at the age of 32 with Toyota I feel he wasn't given a fair go at it by the Japanese team and was unfairly released at the end of the year. Dario has proved in America that he is a good driver who is capable of leading races convincingly. But he only got the odd F1 test and never really got a chance to show what he could do in an F1 car. Isn't Dario's cousin or nephew coming through the ranks at the minute? |

I agree Paul, when McNish finaly got his arse in an F1 car, he was past his best. Dario always looks good when IRL are on the road tracks, I think he could have been a worthy driver in an F1 car. And of course his wife would have added a bit more Hollywood glitz to the pitlane! |

I wouldn't say McNish was unfairly released...he was less than impressive, from what I recall of that season. Does make you wonder why Toyota have stuck with Ralf and Jarno though... |

Probably due to foolishly signing billion-year contracts with the both of them. It's also well known that Ralf's salary was a typo. |

Paul Di Resta, beat Sebastien Vettel to the f3 euro series last year and is going to compete in GP2 this year. |

Sadly I don't think it is. Toyota were just that stupid. |
