FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 9: Paul Morris will switch to an all-new white livery on the Sirromet Wines Holden Commodore he races in this year's V8 Supercar Championship.

The 39-year-old has previously raced a black Commodore in the championship since Sirromet Wines became principal sponsor of the Gold Coast-based Paul Morris Motorsports team in 2002.

Morris, who has made 116 championship starts since 1992, will race with the new white colours for the first time in the opening round of this year's series, the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide, from March 1-4.

He unveiled the new colours today on one of PMM's VZ Commodore V8 Supercars. His team is building a new VE Holden for him to race in the 14-round 2007 championship.

The new white colours feature Sirromet Wines logos on both sides of the car, and retain the orange bonnet from the previous livery with branding from sponsor BWS (Beer Wine and Spirits).

"I'm racing a brand-new car this year so we thought it would be good to go with a fresh look and switch to white colours at the same time," said Morris.

"When we started with the Sirromet Wines sponsorship there was only a couple of black cars on the grid, but now there are several."

"The change to white means our car will stand out better for the fans at the track and on television."

"We have kept the new design clean and tidy, with the aim of maximising the branding of all our sponsors."

"Sirromet has been winning gold medals overseas with white wines, so we're hoping that success rubs off on our white Commodore."

Sirromet won a gold medal in the International Austrian Wine Challenge, held in Vienna in October, for a 2004 Seven Scenes Chardonnay made from fruit grown at its vineyards on Queensland's Granite Belt.

Morris said the building of his new VE Commodore was near completion and he hoped to test the car at Queensland Raceway near Ipswich before the championship opener in Adelaide.

The VE Commodore is the eighth V8 Supercar designed and built by Morris' team at it's premises at the Holden Performance Driving Centre at Norwell.

Morris' best result in the 2006 championship was finishing sixth in the Super Cheap Auto 1000 at Bathurst with fellow-Gold Coast driver Steve Ellery. The 2007 championship will be televised by the Seven Network.
