Then you have to look at the Kimi the wrecker factor for 2004 too...... But the premise for most people’s arguments here is that Button is crap because he has only won 1 race and KR/FA have won many. Button should have won in 04 because he had a better car.....but let us ignore the fact that for most of the time KR/FA have been in better cars than Button. |

I never said Button was crap as this would be unfair because of his end to last season. Im just trying to prove he isnt an elite driver which some people faulsely think he is. Few of Kimis 04 dnfs were down to his over pushing, they were just mecahnical gremlims which dogged that piece of junk called the mclaren mp4-19 |

Elite? So being one F1 driver out of 22 out of probably 1000s of drivers who want to be in F1 and not only that but consistently in the top 4 in a mid field car doesn't count as elite? There is a huge amount of lack of perspective in these type of debates. Everyone is saying on 04 JB should have won, but no one expected MS to win at the beginning of 06. Why? Well because his car wasn't up to a win. When they fixed the problems he started winning. I just simply don't understand how you can expect someone to consistently fight for wins in an under par car when you give Kimi the slack and MS the slack for not doing so when their cars don't seem capable. Surely even if their car is not the cream of the field (that day) they should still be able to fight for a win, but you rarely see it happen. |

No, we have managed to keep it clean so far. I think "The Return of the Marmite" could be a regular feature. Maybe once a week re-open a often and hotly debated subject. I am thinking next week we could do David Coulthard, the driver, not the forum member(s) |

we do have the award - and we have stayed with tradition and called them "The Iceman Awards". But alas, the man himself has vanished. I am always on the hunt for old BBC members, I have just found another (but not contacted yet), but Iceman has eluded me. |

Cool, keep up the good work, this is much better than the BBC, took me 6 months before they stopped moderating me. |

Yeah I went some time on there, then posted asking why I was STILL being modded and the very next post the moderation was taken off! The BBC is a good point to advetise this site a little, and as the BBC ask you to provide links when you post, I dont think they mind. |

"A little unfriendly don’t you think SAFC? Maybe a smiley to clarify your intentions?" I'll be as unfriendly as I like. "Ok here we go…. Buttons results in 2004 6,3,3,2,8,2,3,3,nr,5,4,2,5,nr,3,2,3,nr Alonso’s results in 2004 3,7,6,4,4,nr,5,nr,nr,2,10,3,3,nr,nr,4,5,4 Raikkonens results in 2004 Nr,nr,nr,8,11,nr,nr,5,6,7,2,nr,nr,1,nr,3,6,2" They were not the top 2 drivers in 04. Things move on, Time moves on. Jenson's ability has plateaued, Raikkonen and Alonso in particular have improved. You seem like you are stuck in the past.
"I could yes, but I am not going to, as it would take some time to sort out, and it is a pointless effort because I cannot argue against prejudice." HA! Tripe. Considering the stuff you argue...well, we all know. "Ahhh but your forget that in 2 of the 3 races in which the Ferrari did not win, Button had DNF’s. At Belguin where Kimi won, he had a tire blow out, Truli won at Monaco (but only becuase of the INFAMOUS pace car accident) in the Renault with Button coming second – with Jarno making it imposible for Button to get passed him (not unusual there (remember Mansell/Senna?)) and when JPM won at Brazil, Buttons car broke down. So you see, your ‘should have won in 04’ theory falls flat. It was Ferraris dominance that stopped Button wining a race that year." No...lack of talent. Button retired from 2 of the 3 races where Ferrari didn't win. So what?! How the hell does that have reference to anything? My argument falls flat? Yeah sure. Whatever makes you feel good. There is something known as 'Races Ferrari won'? "And as for what Alonso showed in the later half of 2006…….he showed lots of cracks under pressure." Where? I'd say his drives at China, minus his decision making, Hungary, Turkey and Japan were among the best in his career so far. Sometimes, I find there are people not worth discussing things with. You are one of them. |

Are you suggesting that in 04 Jenson was BETTER than Alonso and Kimi. That's the best yet.
What's all this about then. This is a forum for debating where people put forward their opinion. If you don't think it worth discussing why are you actually here doing what you consider pointless? |

I have no problem with this board, but with a certain person that keeps going out of his way to be as objectionable as possible. There's a difference between putting forward an opinion and belittling people. I didn't say that about 2004. But what I can say is that behind Schumacher, there was no standout driver. If you think Alonso crashing at Monaco, spinning at Monza, starting at the back at Malaysia...Kimi being level with DC for the first half of the season...made them the top 2...did you watch that season? |

I have noted you seem to have issues with me, but in this thread your words are undeserved. I suggest that you either discuss with me your issues in a PM or, if you have a problem with the way I have conducted myself in this debate then take it up with the admin. I do not think this forum is the place to air your dirty washing. I have done nothing to warrant you attack and as such will not discuss this topic with your any further. I hope you get over what ever issues you have with me and we can get back to debating what we all love, which is motorsport. I stand by what I have said in this thread, except……err the fact that I forgot where JPM was in 2004! ;-) |
