We seem to be debating this one in other peoples threads, which is rude. So to leave you lot alone, I present to you a thread for 202 to shout from the highest rooftops about had bad Jenson Button is and for me to try and climb higher and tell him he talks with fork tongue! So you picked white DC202 and the first move is yours...so whats it to be, Queens pawn to Queen 4? |

Ok if you have gone shy on me I will use your last comment and a basis for your Queens Gambit.... (btw - others feel free to step in anytime)
You first point, if Jenons arse went at the sight of Schu in his mirrors, did then Schueys arse go when Jenson overtook him several times at Hungary. The reason Jenson did not stand up to Schey in 04 was simple. There was no one that could touch the package of the 2004 Ferrari driven by MS, it was in a class of its own. I am not sure what you mean by Alonso 'getting down' and fights. Are you suggesting that Jenson is there to make up the numbers? I thinkhe is a fighter, but his gloves are lighter than Alonso. I fail to see that a driver scoring almost twice the amount of point as his team mate can be classed as 'the same standard'. Do you want to move that pawn 'en passant'? |

*Bows and whips out his sword* Ok Monsieur Saint, for a start Button did not overtake him "several" times in Hungary just the once, the reason for this was the lack of grip from the crappy Bridgestone wets as saw when Alonso drove clean round the outside of him MS. Also i am not talking about 2004 i know the ferrari was in a class of its own i never mentioned that but 2005 at Imola and Montreal when MS overwhelmed Jenson especially at Imola he froze under the pressure, and we saw despite not being particularily quick Alonso held Shumi off for 13 laps showing the ulimate race craft in slowing down to avoid the traffic ahead something Button didnt do and that cost him the position. (a massive sentence i know) At Montreal when Jenson saw MS coming into his mirrors he panicked and crashed into the "wall of chumps". The term i mean by "getting down" is that he gets his head down and does the job, whereas Jensons head are in the clouds saying that he thinks he is better than shumi, Alonso and Raikkonen. .In 2006 i meant accept from the last 7 races, he has this false reputation of being one of the best drivers in f1 following a brace of 4th places and a win. Mid season people (from beeb board) said he wasnt even the best Brit, because he accept for the first two races he had a very poor season up to Hockenhim. Sometimes not even being able to get though Q1 in the 4th best car. I look forward to the reply! |

05 Imola Saint, not 04. Go back 3 spaces (and yes Jeson did blow it, cannot say if it was because of Shumi's pressure, but he did) Of course Alonso nearly took himself out in 06 Imola trying to catch Shumi, DavidColthard202 has to chug. |

I dont understand what you are tying to say Rob, Alonso never "nearly" took himself out of the race at Imola last year, he made a couple of small errors yes but it aint much of a comeback

Ummm, we need a bloodbath smiley I think! If this thread gets too messy (i.e. unsuitable for those under a certain age or of a nervous disposition or pregnant ladies) it MAY disappear without a trace! However, I'm enjoying it so far, so carry on! ;-) |

Well what can I say about Button?! Quite alot actually............................ Now entering his 8th F1 season and we are still to be impressed by Jenson. Yes he won in Hungary and it was deserved, but many things went his way in those 2hrs, no matter what spin you put on it the result was a "freak" one. Only one year outside his debut season has the guy been beaten by his team-mate, which is a good record, but you can say that about Heidfeld who has a similiar strong record regarding beating team-mates and he ain't going to EVER set the world alight?! The world of F1 is passing Jenson by, Kimi, Alonso, Lewis, Kova, Massa have all entered the game later and have all had the chance or going to be given the chance with a potential WDC/WCC winning car. Yes, Williams(a weak Williams) and Honda(a poduim at best team) wanted his services, but of what I know the Renaults, McLaren's, Ferrari's don't seem to be as enthusiastic about him.(but who really knows?!) I just don't think that Jenson is anywhere near as good a driver as Kimi and Fernando, I also think Kubica, Kova, Lewis are all soon going to be seen as the potential future WDC's, once again everything seems to be passing Button by. I do however hope that Jenson gets his chance in a class act team or car so he can try and prove people like myself wrong! Just not sure that will happen?! Getting the car OR proving us wrong?! Good luck to him in 2007, but I think he might be seeing alot of Mac's, Renaults and Ferrari's in front of him come Oz and beyond?! Time will tell though! |

He did nearly take himself out, following Shumi, not sure how many laps were left, but it was after the final round of stops. Alonso came off a right had curve, clipping the kerb, and drifting across the track, across the left kerb. If the outside was turf instead of grasscrete his day would have been done. I'm looking for it on youtube. Now chug two
