I know we as posters have had many top drivers polls, conversations, ect. and we all know who the top 4 usually are (Shumi, Senna, Clark, and Fangio) so for this thread, who are the top 10 drivers, who are no longer in F1, not named Shumi, Senna, Clark, or Fangio. 1. Ascari 2. Stewart 3. Prost 4. Lauda 5. Mansell 6. Andretti 7. G. Hill 8. Brabham 9. Moss 10. Piquet |

Phew when i first read the title of this thread i thought it might become a warzone. 1-Mansell (for his exciting style) 2-Nuovolari(not exactly sure how its spelt) 3-Ascari 4-Stewart 5-Prost 6-Alonso 7-Jones (williams first world champ deserves a special mention) 8-Piquet 9-Surtees 10-Rindt |

Not stirring up, almost every top 10 list starts with Senna, Fangio, Clark, and Shumi is some order, so really we just get lists of 6, well I wanted to include some more and a list of 15 just seemed like to much work. |

shit I forgot about Alonso! yeah he would be up there without a doubt. And I had Jones in my list.....but took him out...because I remember his whiney time at Lola/Ford. You know I am not sure I could put Fangio in my list....i never seen him race and putting him up there would be based entirely upon other peoples opinions. |

Makes sense! Its quite difficult for me because the only one i would put in the top 10 for achievments recently is Alonso and he is the only one i have seen race, so my top 10 could be quite flawed but i have read about all these greats.

I did say retired drivers. Having Alonso in now is just to difficult because some people will put him at the top based on what they think he will do, and it's not fair to rate him against people who were in F1 for 10 years. |

You put Piquet in 3rd and Mansell in 10th yet Mansell walked all over Piquet when they were both at Williams. |

One does not win three world titles by being crap, however much you may personally loathe them. |

Hmmmmm Ok, lets just skip that comment, but lets leave the levels of my emotions out of the debate. It's makes for a much more pleasant atmosphere don't you think? Piquet is one of those drivers who looks good on paper, but in reality less so. I am not saying he was a bad driver, just not in the class of Prost, Senna, Lauda, Mansell or many other world champions. He had a good knack of being in the right cars at the right time. That is my opinion, but I do look forward to a friendly, adult debate about how why ranked Piquet above Mansell. |
