Get one like ours - we've got a Skoda Octavia Elegance 1.9 TDi. Dirt cheap to run (averages 60 mpg) and the insurance is cheap too!

It's got a huge boot (as you would expect as it's an estate!) and bags of room in the back. And if you are doing lots of distance driving, it's dead comfy.

Admittedly being a Skoda, it's not awfully trendy, but it is reliable.
