Starting with qualifying. The race looks finely balanced between Button, the 2 Renaults and thankfully the 2 McLarens. McLaren look to have gained in performance, and I would have thought they have a reasonable amount of fuel on board, as do Renault.

Ferrari...disappointing. And Massa is proving that he's not good enough overall. He is fast, but prone to wild moments. This one ruined his qualifying.

Barrichello. He DID get held up by one of the Super Aguris, but not even getting through to thre second phase of qualifying is very poor. He needs to improve, and fast.

Toyota are looking stronger in Australia, and Ralf is 6th.

BMW appear to have quite good pace too, they have made a big step over the winter it seems.

I think Liuzzi deserves a mention too. 12th in a not brilliant car ahead of Klien is a good achievement.

Eventful race.

Button and Honda will never be serious challengers unless they totally sort their car out. Even if Button was trying his hardest today, the car isn't good enough.

Renault and Alonso are the class of the field at the moment. McLaren and Honda can't get anywhere near.

And if ever I thought Schumacher should retire...it's surely not just a coincidence that incidents such as what happened today are creeping into his driving with increasing frequency.

today showed shucmacher is still pushing to the limit. but will it provide him with the wake up call he needs. at 38, does he need to be flying toward the wall, when he could be sat watching instead with his wife and daughter. its incidents like this that are a double-edged sword.

I think this season will be his last.

Special mention to Montoya for spinning on the first lap. How lucky ws he that Fisi stalled?!

I think it was ironic that they showed Ross Brawn stealing a little chuckle at Montoya's expense regarding the grid formation spin incident, only to have his two cars smeared all over the walls by the end of the race.

I bet Ron Dennis grabbed a little chuckle after that!!

Don't think Fisichella did, judging by his on-board camera.

And I'm glad to see that this board is well-prepared with a smiley just for JB...
<grrr>
