From CampHyrule.com Camp Hyrule is a FREE virtual online summer camp where video game fanatics can become immersed in the world of Nintendo. This year, registration for Camp Hyrule is scheduled to take place July 27 - July 29 right here at CampHyrule.com. Each and every registered camper is assigned to a virtual cabin, where he or she can meet other gamers and interact with Nintendo's gameplay experts in exclusive Camp Hyrule chat rooms and message boards. Daily events include live chat shows, games, art activities and a bus-load of surprises from the Nintendo universe. If you like to talk about video games, play practical jokes, and rub elbows with Nintendo's expert gamers, then pull out the tanning lotion and get ready to meet new friends at Nintendo's Camp Hyrule 2004. Coming the week of August 16, 2004. ----------------------- Q: How do I join Camp Hyrule? A: Go to http://www.camphyrule.com on July 27th-July29th and register. You will need a My Nintendo Account. Q: How do I know if I got in? A: You will receive a confirmation e-mail from Nintendo shortly after you register. Q: Is space limited? A: Camp Hyrule used to be a limited participation event, but it is now open to everyone who registers. Q: What exactly do you do at Camp Hyrule? A: Every day you can browse the site and participate in many activities. You can either chat with friends in chat rooms, post on the forums, or play games. Each day there are activities such as contests and gatherings that you can join in on. Of course, the big event is the Cabin Contests, in which your cabin competes against the rest. The cabin with the most points wins. Cabins are also divided into two teams, and the team with the most points also wins. You earn points by going to the Trading Post each day and following the instructions. They have ranged from submitting poems, drawing pictures, or coming up with catchy phrases. Q: Will I need anything special for Camp Hyrule? A: You will need an Internet Explorer 6.0 or compatible browser to post and chat, and Macromedia Flash and Shockwave? to play the games and view the map. You should also familiarize yourself with the Lithium setup at the Nsider Forums. You should go to the Tech Support Forums and read the Guides there, familiarize yourself with the Rules, and check out the Bulletin Board before Camp Hyrule begins. Q: How do I navigate Camp Hyrule? A: It is just like the Nsider Forums. If you know how to navigate their, or even ZHQ's forums, you can navigate Camp Hyrule. You should note the changes in the options at the top of the Lithium style forums versus ZHQ's before you participate. As for the Camp Hyrule map, you can launch it from any page on Camp Hyrule, and it is a Flash Movie file. You can mouse over places and experiment with what you can click. Most clickable locations will have an animation when you mouse over it, or will have written text. Some area are hidden or aren't opened up until later. The map will be a pop-up window, and any area clicked will change your main window with the Camp Hyrule site. Q: How do I start once I register? A: Shortly before Camp Hyrule begins, you will receive an e-mail with your Cabin # and your Camp Counselor. You will also receive the times your counselor will be chatting with your cabin. You should try to make that on Day 1, as that is when you will name your Cabin and design a flag. When you go to the Camp Hyrule page, you login with your MyNintendo info. Then you can navigate the forum like setup. Go down to your cabin # and click it. You can there access the forum or the chat for your cabin. You should make sure your e-mail is working, since all notification comes through e-mails the night before each camp day. Q: What is this contest? A: Each night you will receive a news update on the camp, as well as the scheduled activities for the next day, as well as the contests for each day. You can always check the Trading Post for current events and winners. Make sure to always keep up. On Day 2, you cabin info will be updated with your flag and name, and then you can then check the leaderboard for which Cabin is winning, and which team is winning. To earn points, you will have to submit your entry to an e-mail address. You can only submit one entry per contest, so don't try cheating. Be sure to include your CABIN #and YOUR NAME or you will get no credit. The following day winners for each contest are announced and their submissions shown off. Each entry earns points for your cabin/team, and they are tallied each night and reflected the next day in your standings. The winners get cool exclusive Camp Hyrule awards and materials, like wallpapers and desktops. Q: That seems unfair if I work hard and don't win. Is there any other awards? A: Yes, there are. In addition to the competition, there is a an End of Camp Award Ceremony in witch the campers vote on various awards from Best Camper to Worst Spelling. The winners are announced in front of the entire camp at the Ampitheatre. Q: Besides competing and chatting, are there any other activities? A: There usually are special guest sessions in the ampitheatre in which the NOAs bring in people like Charles Martinet (the voice of Mario) or the NOA Localization Team to give Nintendo fans an exclusive chance to ask questions that nobody else can. Of course, with hundreds of people, not everybody gets their question answered. Also, there is the Loft Monster Mystery, in which campers must solve who is terrorizing camp. Q: Are there any traditions I should know about? A: There are a few. Stumpy, the camp mascot, always makes an appearance. The Loft Monster always comes to terrorize camp, though the identity changes from year to year. The camp grounds take on a theme of the current popular Nintendo games, as well as the established franchises like Zelda, Mario and Pokemon. There is always and end of camp disaster, which puts everyone into a frenzy. And there are the end of ceremony awards. Q: So what do you do there TSA? A: Last year I was sort of angry at the start, and didn't enjoy camp because I had a lot of stress offline. However, it turned out to be a great camp in the end. Each year I do a Camp Hyrule Journal on my site for people who miss out so they can see what is up, and I do the Lost Woods Trivia Challenge - a week long trivia event I host in the Lost Woods Chat. This year, though, the moderators of the Nintendo Forums are being granted special priveledges to be Counselors in Training. While we won't have our own cabins to run, we will be helping in that respect, as well as moderating the forums and chat rooms. Q: Does my previous MyNintendo or Camp Hyrule information/stats pass onto this Camp Hyrule? A: I officially can't answer that, but I am 100% sure your Nsider Forums/Hyrule Town Square stats do not carry over to Camp Hyrule 2004. You only retain your username. Even your signature and icon doesn't stay. As for your Camp Hyrule 2003 stats, I don't think they will carry over, even though it is still the same Lithium site. |
