HOLY CARP!!!
I just got a Kindle Paperwhite and these are the font choices:

Amazon Ember
Baskerville
Bookerly
Caecilia
Caecilia Condensed
Futura
Helvetica
OpenDyslexic
Palatino

Note that I am not dyslexic.

What is the best font? I am not the sort to ever use the second best - of anything. So please tell me the best font. Thanks.

Horace, I also have the Paperwhite. I never altered the font that came with it from the factory, which is Bookerly. I don't know what you're looking for when you say "best", but I find it is very clear and presents no problems.

5 years in with a paperwhite and I never changed the default.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

I'd weight in, but I won't.

8 years with whatever the iPad default is. I think it varies by book.

If the Kindle offers Wingdings, use that one! It's even better than Comic Sans.

Weight in? As in font weight? Is that a clue? C'mon man I NEED THE BEST FONT.

Your paperwhite is 5 years old? It must be pathetic compared to mine - which is new. I'm sorry about your decrepit paperwhite, jon. But I don't want you to feel badly about your dinosaur technology - please think of it as an antique piece of electronics. That will make you feel better about its inferiority as a reading device.

I use the factory default Bookerly, it works fine.

Bookerly was specifically designed for e-readers so it's probably a good choice. I'm using mine in landscape mode with low line spacing.

Regarding the font for dyslexics, apparently the idea of the idea is better than the idea itself:

Quote:

Two studies have investigated the effect of specialized fonts used with students with dyslexia. Rello and Baeza-Yates (2013) measured eye-tracking recordings of Spanish readers (aged 1150) with dyslexia and found that OpenDyslexic did not significantly improve reading time nor shorten eye fixation.[5] In her master's thesis, Leeuw (2010) compared Arial and Dyslexie with 21 Dutch students with dyslexia and found Dyslexie did not lead to faster reading, but may help with some dyslexic-related errors.[6]
