Oh, usually I'm not an early bird at all. But yesterday I was so tired that I fell asleep at 8.30 and woke up at 4am.

I should do that more often.

Iím always the early bird.

Itís 7:30 and Iíve already been to the gym, showered, done my sight reading practice for the day, made breakfast for everyone, packed the kidís lunch, and gotten him out the door.

What time to you go to bed, Jon?

I find myself in the same rut as when I was working: Bed at 10 or so, try to watch some TV on my iPad but invariably fall asleep. Wake at 4:30 - 5:00. Sleeping till 6:30 is a luxury I can never give myself.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

Usually asleep by 10. Almost always up by 4.

I used to try to fall back asleep if I woke up really early, but I realized you can have some real productive time then, and nap later if you need to. Beats sitting there for an hour or two fighting unsuccessfully to get back to sleep.

The key for me is to make the time productive. My gym went 24hrs in January, and I have a digital piano with headphones. Voila, productive time whenever I want it.

Slacker.

Although since I retired, I sleep almost to 6 most mornings. That makes me a semi-slacker, I guess...

That's me as well. My natural sleeping time is 2am to 10am.

+1 Although, lately I have been getting up earlier, around 7:00, and I'm usually asleep by 1:00

I'm a night owl.
But, when I am forced to get up early, maybe around 7:00, it really is kinda cool, especially during the summer. Birds chirping about whatever, that kind of thing.

Hell yeah. I absolutely hate being awake at Godís hour, but itís impossible to deny the benefits.

It's not so clear, though, why Jon needs his time to be super productive when he's retired :lol2:

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
After years of rising at 5 or so I am now on a 6:30-7 routine, earlier if I am tired and go to bed before 10. I need 7-8 hours to avoid a nap the next day.
