Meeting People In The Hospital Can Be A Good Thing

A number of years ago, I was talking to my therapist at the time. I told her how I became friends with someone who I had met when I was a patient in a mental hospital.

She told me that actually, meeting people in a mental hospital can be a rather good thing because a lot of people who are also patients there have similar issues that I have.

I think she was right.

When I used to be in the hospital, my main goal wasn't to meet people there. But the fact that I did become friends with a person who was also a patient there was a cool thing, I think. And I'm not the only one who has met others in the hospital.

That's where I met Nobody's Sock..

I was there picking up chicks ( it's also a good place to pick up chicks) and there he was, sitting in the day room wearing his little tin foil hat....

I think it is possible, because you have something in common. This could be apply to anything, but when you meet someone in a hospital, you already have a "shared experience", which makes starting a conversation/meeting someone easier.

Probably could say the same thing if you are browsing in a piano store. :)

Cheers
I have a goodly number of friends I met through the transplant program at Duke. Met mainly in rehab (‘prehab’ we called it since it was before surgery) but a couple I got to know much better in the hospital.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.
