Reminder: there is no such thing as an "ex" Marine.
Definitely some surprises here.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

Did you know that Ted Williams was John Glenn's wingman during the Korean War?

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

My dad is a former Marine. And Marine boot camp was the hardest experience of his life.

But he was determined to get through it. He wanted to prove to himself and everyone he knew that he could do it. And he did.

Cool.

I think it's a safe bet to say that Marine boot camp would be way too tough for me.

Another Ted Williams Marine story

My aunt Mary was a Marine and was Ted Williams's driver when he was in Hawaii.

She said he didn't like it when she told him that she was from Boston and never heard of him.

You have to be physically and mental tough to get through Marine boot camp.

Another Marine coincidence

The Marines have a physical fitness test (PFT) that they have to pass once a year.

The standards vary based on age and gender.

For the last 9 weeks, once a week on Sundays, I have been trying to pass this test. Today I finally made it at the 51 years-old male level. 51 has been in the rear view mirror for a while. To be honest, even though it took 9 tries it isn't the most difficult test.

Hats off to you!

I might have been able to pass the test, 30 years ago...😞😞😞
