People Who Claim They're Disabled, But Aren't

Years ago, I used to get treatment from a community mental health center.

And one day I was talking with a social worker whom I was working with at the time there. We got on the subject of some people with mental illness who are on state disability.

She told me that earlier that year, a couple of people who seeked treatment there tried getting on state disability, claiming they had mental illness. They stated that they couldn't work at a job because of it.

She then said to me that they weren't actually disabled. They just didn't want to work.

I think that's unfortunate. For them to try to do that is ripping off the state. And it's ripping off society. Individuals who really are disabled due to mental health issues need help from the state. It's unfair to them, and everyone else, for those to try to get on disability when they aren't actually disabled.

And it's illegal.

HOLY CARP!!!
Nothing pissed me off more than someone I knew who faked some documents to get a handicapped sticker on his car to park wherever he wanted. That is foul.

When I lived in San Francisco (north bay), there was a neighbor down the street that would boast to me that the upgrades to his house, windows, insulation, etc., were all free, as he and his (fat-assed) wife were disabled. Neither one was disabled, as far as I could tell. (Clarification: yes, she was huge, with a humongous fat ass, like 10,000 whoppers found a home...)

I guess in the aggregate, those types of people are hopefully rare. Gaming the system.
What I found rather surprising, is that their perspective was like, "gee, aren't you sorry you're not as clever as us?"

Trailor trash is everywhere. And such people cannot see anything wrong, it's like a game to be played.

It makes me mad when people do this, as it ruins things for the other 99% (or whatever percentage) that really need the help.
