HOLY CARP!!!
Article:

http://money.cnn.com/2018/04/26/technology/business/amazon-prime-cost-increase/index.html

Before 2014, it was $79 a year.
Since 2014, it is $99 a year.
Starting May 11, it's going to be $119 a year.

Wonder who else will hike subscription prices next.

Netflix and HULU have raised their prices in the recent past as well.

When Amazon Prime was $79 a year, they didn't have the wealth of original programing they're offering now (Man in the High Castle, etc). That stuff costs money, and someone's gotta pay.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

Estimated Amazon Prime subscribers = 90,000,000

$20 increase in the subscription = $1,800,000,000

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

$1.8 billion?

That'll pay for a lot of movies.

Not worth it for delivery only folks like me.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

It's enough to make you think.

Maybe it would help if they beefed up the offerings in Prime Reading.

Costco makes their profit on memberships. Amazon is figuring out how to make a profit. Everyone is hooked, buyers and sellers and little to no competition. They have won for a while.

Facebook steals privacy and people are so hooked it doesn’t matter.

Threats of leaving in mass are shallow.

Hmm I should add up how much it saves me in shipping. I think my renewal comes up soon. I never really use the streaming, I mostly watch Netflix. I honestly thought it was still $79.

Edit: Just looked it up. In Canada it is still $79, and apparently they already charged me this year on April 4.

They should split “Prime” into separate products for delivery and streaming. People hate to pay for things they don’t use.

Prime will have some things Netflix doesn't. Check 'em out...
