Were visiting some of Karla's family. They have a menagerie, including two smaller mongrel females, a pit mix and a neighbor's chihauha that came to visit and never went home. The chihauha knocked up the two female mongrels (apparently within a day, as the two gave birth within two days if each other while Karla and Luke were visiting). So for two days, Luke was the caretaker for these puppies and the mothers. He would make sure they were all getting fed, and when the runts were getting shoved aside, he would pull the bigger puppies aside to get the runts latched. He researched how to help the one pup that was having problems latching and fixed the problem.

Last night, while they were driving home, they got word that the Pit Mix ate one of the puppies.

He is inconsolable.

True. pretty common for an animal to kill a defective newborn. Or sometimes, just kill for no reason...Some hogs are particularly bad about killing piglets, either actively or just rolling over on them...If you didn't have farrowing pens, you'd almost always lose a few piggies.

This wasn't the pitbull mix's first victim. Apparently she ate her own entire litter several years ago.

Then, what the fuck, the dog can't be trusted with other animals. I assume this isn't some barn or mill operation and this is just their home? If so, I guess they don't have a problem with domestic cannibalism but I sure would, that's fucked up.

Really sorry Luke had to deal with that. :(

I know some nice pitbulls, but I wouldn't give the pitbull a second chance.

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

I know lots of nice pitbulls, and I limit my time and exposure to them as much as possible.

It's not that the in-laws are evil or negligent.m, they're just idiots.

It was cruel of your in-laws to tell Luke and Karla. Especially after watching him care for the pups for 2 days.

I disagree with that judgement. Honest relatives are preferable to fake news relatives IMO.

Horsefeathers. It was not information that Luke or Karla would benefit from nor was it a situation they could affect. The only possible outcome was pain.
