Flew from Reagan National and got some amazing shots of DC on the way out. You can clearly see from RFK to the Lincoln Memorial and all the monuments in between, Reagan airport and the Pentagon all the way to the Blue Ridge. I got lucky with the Space Shuttle landing facility and VAB - we went right over the launch pads. Nice clear shot of Miami Beach on the way out. There were wildfires in the Everglades near Naples when we arrived you can see them in the sunrise pics. Leaving Naples on Sunday AM the visibility for the first 20 minutes was only a few hundred feet due to smoke. On the 4 hour fishing trip Wednesday we had high winds and seas. I caught a fish in the first few minutes and spent the next 3.5 hours leaning over the rail sharing my breakfast with the fish - payback. We spend most of the week driving to various spots in the Keys with Jimmy Buffet playing most of the time. So now we've seen the Keys. The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Windows 10 Movie Maker, it is a free App that comes with Windows. That might be the first time I have used it for something like this. It took more manual work than it should but it wasn't bad and it created high-def MP4 so it was easy to upload to youtube The pictures were all taken with iPhone and iPad |

Copper, that was great, thank you! You flew (obviously), what was that like? IOW - how often do you need to land for fuel, or is it non-stop? How long a flight was it? Do you go on auto-pilot and just sit back and relax, or is there so much air traffic you always need to be vigilant? I always ask a lot of questions about your flying, as I have a Curious what you were fishing for, anything specific (Marlin)? Someday me = Florida. Never been there. Long drive. |

Actually those were commercial flights. I did buy an airplane in Clearwater, FL some years ago and flew it up here to Leesburg, VA all by myself. To answer your questions using that flight, it was awesome, one of the best things I have ever done. The feeling at 5,000 feet all by yourself on the clearest day ever is just spectacular. Finding your way up the coast is not the most difficult bit of navigation but it is something that most people can never do and I really appreciate the luck that I had the chance to do it. I stopped for fuel twice, at St. Simon's Island on the coast of Georgia and in Asheboro, NC It was 7.1 hours total time - that is the amount of time that the prop was spinning It was mostly on auto-pilot, most of the time is spent looking out the window for traffic. I didn't see much traffic that day. Also for a flight that long fatigue is a problem and the auto-pilot helps a lot. The previous time that I went fishing was probably over 50 years ago. I was just fishing for fish. Anything that jumped on my hook was a mystery to me. Billy the deck-hand did most of the work although I did bait the hook, throw it in the water and reel the fish into the boat. I don't remember exactly what the fish was, a whiteheaded something - a little over a foot long. Billy said it was big enough to keep so we kept it. I have had at least a dozen trips to Disneyworld. A lot of the people here are grown-ups and don't feel the same way about Disney, but I think the trip to Florida is worth it. I also like visiting the Kennedy Space Center, that is why I knew what I was looking at when we flew over and took the pictures. |

Nice... We've stayed in Key West the last 2 years around this time, but didn't go this year, thinking it would still be trashed from the hurricane. Your video made me wish we had gone anyway. Nothing like the Keys in springtime. It's a different world down there. |

Identifying narcissists isn't difficult. Just look for the person who is constantly fishing for compliments and admiration while breaking down over even the slightest bit of criticism. We have the freedom to choose our actions, but we do not get to choose our consequences.

We had been to Key West a couple times before, the purpose this trip was to get a look at the whole route from Naples to Key West just because we hadn't seen it all before. Sometime you'll have to take me fishing and teach me how to keep my breakfast down. I am still in pain from that experience. During all the years of bouncing around in a small plane it never bothered me, but just a few minutes in that boat crushed me. You can still see a lot of damage from the hurricane. The resort on Duck Key where we stayed, called Hawks Cay, was mostly closed and being completely rebuilt. A lot of roofs throughout the keys still are covered with blue tarps. |
