Finally
To my untrained eye, it looks like he was shot even after going down. At 1:05-1:15.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

This one seems pretty open and shut.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

HOLY CARP!!!
Video looks like he is coming toward them, he is hit and falls almost immediately. I can imagine it is hard to stop yourself from pulling the trigger with all that adrenaline pumping.

It's an interesting case.

The guy didn't get shot in church, he got shot after breaking into parked vehicles and then running from police. IIRC, the cops had also already received a call on him and his behavior.

Gunfights are not like in the movies. They are violent, very fast, often in low light and guys don't go down with the first hit. Secondly, once caps start popping, shot strings are always multiple and cops are taught to shoot until the threat is negated. In other words, if that guy had moved an arm while on the ground, the cops would have shot him again. My opinion is that the first shot turned him or he turned away to flee (maybe unknowingly, just from pain stimulus) and the cops were triggering shots so fast that they put the rest of the bullets into him on his way to the ground.

The biggest question here is how much force was warranted. The cops had more than adequate cover, not just concealment, and it would be interesting to know what they said before shooting. If they had screamed at him to put his hands in sight and get on the ground, and he didn't comply, that's one thing. If they didn't give him a chance to comply, didn't even give him a chance to surrender or just started shooting , that's something else.

The other issue is a training issue...At what point are these cops taught to draw a weapon? A drawn weapon is much more likely to be used. If I saw the video correctly, it looks like guns were drawn way before the cops knew there was any type of substantial threat. I believe in cops going home at the end of their shift, but pulling a gun is a serious thing.
