HOLY CARP!!!
just by chance, i listened to this podcast on the my lai massacre. 50 year anniversary recently

http://www.martyrmade.com/10-anything-that-moves-pt-2-the-my-lai-massacre/ (or iTunes) not long, about hour and half.

i was 10 at the time, so my memories are vague, i remember Lt William Calley's name being splashed in the news, and some gruesome pictures, but i never really got around to the whole story.

if u want to be depressed, than this podcast is a good way to do it.

i really didn't know it was that horrific.

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
Yes, it was. Remember it well.

Yup. I remember well too, but don’t know how original my memory was. Covered a lot over the years. Most of my memory is visual and it’s ugly.

I hear what you are saying but he went extra far and got caught. It’s what happens when you get caught.

He just got caught.

I worked with a guy who acknowledged his platoon wiped out a village. They'd passed through, and immediately took fire on the opposite side. They eventually had to call in an airstrike to get them out of a furball. Which took forever while they were getting authorization from up the chain, and more guys went down.

He said when the smoke cleared, they went back in the village and shot anything still alive, down to the pigs and chickens.

Was he telling the Truth? Dunno, I wasn't there. I do know he'd been over there while in the army. He'd sure get wild-eyed when he talked about it, though.

What they did was horrible and wrong. And yes, undoubtedly similar happened.

I don't have any idea how I would be, after spending months in hell.
