I got two steroid injections in my shoulder Thursday. I'm almost past the steroid flare, so the injection pain is dwindling now. I'm down to just Tylenol, and soon I won't even need that.

It's been nearly a year and a half since I last had these injections. That's a good run. Some folks only get a few months of pain relief, so my 17 months was fantastic. I hope this set lasts for at least a year.

So all you fellas who like to misbehave need to know that my shoulder will soon be feeling pretty darn good, and you should know what I mean about that. Right, Jon?

Darn right. :smokin:

The joys of the golden years. Good luck for a long-lasting hit.
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. It's no fun to get the injections, but it's worth it. I try not to even look at those needles. Holy cow. They're big. It's kind of amazing it can even be done.

I can't imagine having a shoulder replacement like Mrs. George.

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
I am reminded of this joke, for which I will pay dearly, but here goes.

Quote:

A farmer was getting very tired of accidentally, but frequently, discovering his 14-year-old son jerking off behind the barn. "Son," he said, "that's enough of this foolishness. You're neglecting your chores and you'll go blind, too! We're going into town to find you a wife, and put this nonsense to rest for good!"

So they went to town to arrange a hasty marriage with some poor, unsuspecting farm girl. The marriage was performed and everything was fine - problem solved - until...

The farmer went out behind the barn one day a week later and discovered the son, at it again, stroking the axe-handle, flogging the log, beating the meat........"Goddammit son," he roared, "here I go to all the trouble of getting you a wife to take care of this tomfoolery and you're back at it again! What's the matter with your new wife? Doesn't she take care of your needs properly?"
"Well Dad," the son said, "she was just fine at first, but her little arms get so tired..."

You know, he really does.

As I suspect you and your husband do for each other.

And Brenda, I know someone who had one injection to his shoulder that's going on 5 years now. Hope it'll work out that way for you too.

Wow! Five years?! That's amazing.

I thought 17 months was great, and my doc agreed. Five years is really an outlier. I'd like to know more about that one. The Mayo doc said that in my situation, with my type of joint damage, many folks only get 4 to 6 months of relief with the injections. I understand the specific problems in the joint can vary, thus the results also vary.

I also have two injection sites in that shoulder, not just one, so that's another wrinkle to the problem. With two problem spots in the same shoulder, I won't get my hopes up for getting more than a year, but I can dream a bit about a fiver. :)

And you, Brenda, what the others have said. You are always with such a good attitude on these things . . . and are you recovered from your surgery?

Yes, Cats, I am doing quite well. It took longer than expected, but it's only because of the multiple procedures in under a year, and some in the same area of the body. I'll be raring to go with the warmer weather coming.

I'm hoping you get back your health in time for summer, too. I know you like to get outdoors, and it will be a treat for you after all you've been through. Warm weather and sunshine are restorative for both body and spirit.

It's so good to see you posting. Been missing you.
