HOLY CARP!!!
Is it legally possible to not give anything to your children?

Over here, close relatives get at least a minimum obligatory quota of the inheritance, no matter what.

Totally legal. Though the kids can later (post death) challenge it sometimes.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

One of my favorite book openings was from "The Testament" by John Grisham (rest of the book sucked, so don't waste your time).

tl;dr version:

Fabulously wealthy man reads his last will and testament in front of a bunch of lawyers who represent him as well as his kids and his ex-wives.

"To my ex-wives, I leave ... nothing. They were taken care of during the divorces. To my children, I leave enough money to pay off their debts as of today. Beyond that, I leave nothing."

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

I have no idea what the daughter or grandchildren did to piss him off and whether morally he was wrong but that isn’t the way the law works. I do know plenty of second wives who feel justified to keep money away from the other family, and things get really toxic.

It is funny how people seem to feel a right to money that was never theirs to start.

(of course, I am saying this as someone who does not have any inheritance for me. :D I would maybe think differently if I had rich relatives!!!)

Not when it is the feds.

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Rita was going to be the heir of the sports teams and worked in the Saints' office. Rumor is she kept the place in a turmoil and the old man finally got enough and fired her.

The kids and last wife apparently didn't gee-haw. Things got acrimonious enough, Benson left the sports stuff to his wife and cut the kids money. A lengthy court battle followed, as the kids said the old man was nuts. He won the court battle.

Looks like he won the war, too.

Benson did a lot for the community, but it was always said he was a ruthless businessman...
