It's kind of an old man bragging thing - who used the most primitive text editor? - professionally not a hobby. Of course I started with this: ![]() But modesty forbids rubbing it in. I wore a similar outfit too. |

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy | |

The vi editor is one powerful editor. I’ve used it on Unix operating systems. I’ve never used Emacs and can’t comment on it. You have to get used to vi if you learned some other editor before it. With vi’s three modes: input, command, and the last line mode, you can accomplish a lot and very quickly. At the same time, you have to be super careful with it. You can cause a lot of damage by not having the presence of mind of which mode you’re currently in. |

BBEdit on the Mac kicked all of their collective asses. I use vi on occasion. Not an expert in it by any means. Most time I will have to do a google search for a command cheat sheet. lol On Windows 10, I like EM Editor. Notepad++ suffices for most basic editing. |

I do a lot on the command line. Doesn't mean I have to always use it. I have always preferred GUI based text editors, and always will. |
