Klaus, that powerhouse of testosterone that is Obama got tough with Putin. He put on his serious face and told Putin.. "Cut it out."

Do you seriously think Obama, a "man" who went on a world tour for the express purpose of apologizing to anyone who would stand still for five seconds, would do anything else but to tell the little fat bastard in North Korea that it's America's fault and he's sorry?
You are deflecting from the main issue here, which is the double standard of Fox News and others on the right of condemning Obama's proposal to meet with NK - not because of what he'd do at the visit, but solely for the idea of talking to NK - while then celebrating Trump's announcement to do exactly the same thing like a braindead cheerleader.
Nuance.

Obama, because of his past actions, defined in many people's minds the example of a weak leader. A wiffle ball, dealing from a position of apology.

Trump? Who the hell knows what Trump would do, if pushed? Therein lies the difference. Trump deals from a stronger starting position.

Nothing wrong with thinking that.

But that was not was the video was about. Fox News, and others, heavily attacked the very idea of talking to NK when Obama was president, but when Trump proposes the same thing they declare it to be an act of diplomatic brilliance. They didn't say "it would be a good idea if a better president would do it".

It was based on past performance. Obama believed if we were nice to the world the world would be nice to us. He was the first president who grew up on Sesame Street.

So, you say otherwise about Obama? That he did not think America needed to apologize to the world and learn “our place in the world”?

Don’t take your eyes off “the media”, Davis. Here you have a great example to confirm your oft proclaimed mistrust of the media, and now you want to rationalize that example? Don’t squander it, man, you keep telling us how biased the media are! :sword:

Indeed.

In general, I'm rather annoyed with how this forum has over the years developed from a relatively balanced place with not always civilised but mostly somewhat reasonable and interesting discussions and a diverse set of opinions to an irrational and blind Trump propaganda machine.

One would think. Nary a whisper of it next door.
Please feel free to start a thread there if you think it's a topic you want discussed. You have full posting rights.

I haven't because I don't think there's anything to talk about yet, but I'm certainly interested in what might happen.

I think Davis is very familiar with the players.

Interestingly, he joined here shortly after someone with the same style and interests left next door. But perhaps that's a coincidence.

From a thread shortly after Davis joined:

And how did u find us? Always felt we need new blood to keep things interesting.
I suppose I first became aware of TNCR through PianoWorld but didn't pay much attention to it. I've lurked long enough of late to appreciate the ecosystem here and diversity of people, opinions and interests, enough to jump in. I know it's not for everyone but there are an interesting, and at times fascinating, set of voices here.
So, Davis. Tell us more about yourself. Hobbies? Do you play piano? You mentioned PW - what's your screen name at PW? (there are a bunch of names with Davis in them...)

You know, all the interesting stuff....

So, Davis, we've asked a few times for you to tell us more about yourself...you said Klaus doesn't know you...now's as good a time as any to enlighten all of us....

Of course I'm biased. We all are, including you. It's delusional to think otherwise.

Well, add jon and bachophile to the 24kt asshole list , as they asked Davis to tell us about himself more than once.

Since you only occasionally lurk at WTF and probably missed my joining there, I'll fill you in on the history of the name.

This was the first forum that I ever joined and was unfamiliar with how to jump in, so I lurked for a while. I used the "John Galt" name here because I associated it with a mystery person that no one knew. What I didn't count on was the association with Ayn Rand and her political views. I found out that lurking is common and it was no big deal. so the "mystery poster" aspect was a nothingburger.

I originally signed up at WTF as John Galt, but decided to make a clean break and lose the unintended political baggage and just change my handle. I announced that and even asked Matt to verify to the world that I was the same person, which he did.

So while you want to attribute all kinds of bad things to what i've done, there's really not much to it. You can believe it or not. It matters not to me.

Whoa...this is getting out of hand. JG has some inkling of who Davis is and would like to know. It is her right to ask, as it is Davis's right to decline. Davis has, if you read his posts regularly, shared a fair amount about himself (I am assuming the him vs her but could be wrong). We all shared slowly over time and one of the things I like best about this platform is the privacy. You can share as much or as little as you like.

When a leftwinger is losing the debate, you can always count on them to deflect attention away from the topic by attacking the other person personally.

1. If you think this is an issue of bias, you're missing the point.
2. Klaus, Maybe you've forgotten that when George Bush won, half the board got their titties in such a wad over it that they ran away and made their own little secret sandbox so they wouldn't have to allow anyone to say anything nice about Bush. And maybe you've forgotten how after they had been laughed at for a year for acting like a bunch of babies they finally made it "open and available to all", and then made half the people there a moderator to make sure that no one said anything they disagreed with.
3. Galt, I've told you this once before. If Davis wants to tell us anything about himself, he will. Until then, shut your f*cking mouth and go make me a sammich.

4. And now for the part some of you are missing:

Some of you are attempting to argue that Fox is guilty of bias because they didn't want Obama talking to Kim, but they *do* want Trump to do it. Where you're missing the boat is by refusing to acknowledge that these two men are very different. You might have a point if the democrat in question had actually had some balls, and they both had the same reputation for toughness. But they don't. Because of that, the difference isn't one of bias, it's a difference in men.

People with a functioning brain didn't want Obama talking to *anyone*, much less a wild card such as Kim. He was weak, feckless, with a reputation for going around the world apologizing for the US, and making deals with our enemies that hurt the nation. Today, people with a functioning brain see that Trump might just be the only man on the planet with the guts to put Kim on ice.

As for this board "changing" into a bunch of Trump supporters..... give me a f*cking break. I sat through 8 years of listening to the leftwing nutjobs piss and moan about Bush, then another 8 years listening to them kiss Obama's ass, a total of 16 years of wild eyed leftwing stupidity. 16 f*cking years of listening to that sh!t and one year in you're going to jump our asses for defending the Republican president?

Trustworthiness of anything on TV left town years ago.

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march.
