Sweet. Letís see how it tracks against the revenue reduction.

Itís a great question for sure. In the meantime we can more quickly track how much the public is against it which is what we were assured just weeks ago.

Democrats warned GOP congresscritters this was suicide to pass where I suspect the opposite would be true. I think we are only beginning to understand why they were so concerned.

Kind of like hosting the Olympic Games. Look at all the jobs!

But please donít look at the debt. And for gods sake, donít make any comparisons between the two!

Apple Inc. told employees Wednesday that itís issuing a bonus of $2,500 worth of restricted stock units, following the introduction of the new U.S. tax law, according to people familiar with the matter.

The iPhone maker will begin issuing stock grants to most employees worldwide in the coming months, said the people, who asked not to be identified because they werenít authorized to speak publicly. The move comes on the same day Apple said it would bring back most of its cash from overseas and spend $30 billion in the U.S. over the next five years, funding an additional technical support campus, data centers and 20,000 new employees.

Apple confirmed the bonuses in response to a Bloomberg inquiry Wednesday. The Cupertino, California-based company joins a growing list of American businesses that have celebrated the introduction of corporate-friendly tax law with one-time bonuses for staff. AT&T Inc., Comcast Corp., JetBlue Airways Corp. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. also said they were giving bonuses.

I like that Mr. Trump is taking responsibility for the executive branch.

It took Mr. Obama many years before he took any responsibility.

How much the president really influenced these things is beside the point.

As I have said many times before, Presidents take too much credit for the economy when things go well, and probably take too much blame when things go not so well.

Last year, if you invested in a global stock fund (without US stocks), the return would have been 27.5%. The US stock returns were about 24.4%. So, on the world wide, stocks were 3% actual better or about 12% better when compared to US stocks.

So, compared to other world leaders, is President Trump performing worse and the US would have been better with another leader? Of course, this is a nonsense statement.

But, it just shows the type of things that presidents (both Republic and Democrat) say to try and make themselves look good, when the situation would have been mostly the same if they did nothing.

Hostess Brands, the maker of Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Ho Hos and other iconic treats, said it would provide one-time $1,250 bonuses to 1,036 hourly employees "following the recently enacted tax legislation."

The bonuses come in the form of $750 in cash and a $500 401k contribution.

Hostess also said it would select a "product of the week" and provide a multi-pack to every employee every week for one year.

Over 7,000 of the tobacco company's nonexecutive employees will receive a one-time payout, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, amounting to $24 million.

The company has also prepared to put $35 million aside for donations to various charity programs, especially those focused on work and youth development, over the next three years.
Altria Group Inc. is the latest corporation to announce windfalls from the tax plan, which slashes the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 21 percent.

When this post was initiated on Jan 11, their were 1 million who received tax reform bonuses. As of today it has tripled to over 3 million. In the meantime we have increasingly seen raises and many companies raise their minimum wage to $15 an hour. We will have to see if the trend continues, but the response has been very fast thus far.

It was another crazy news week, so it's understandable if you missed a small but important announcement from the Treasury Department: The federal government is on track to borrow nearly $1 trillion this fiscal year ó Trump's first full year in charge of the budget.

That's almost double what the government borrowed in fiscal year 2017.

Here are the exact figures: The U.S. Treasury expects to borrow $955 billion this fiscal year, according to a released Wednesday. It's the highest amount of borrowing in six years, and a big jump from the $519 billion the federal government borrowed last year.

There are definite risks to tax reform, but as far as the stock market goes it could drop another 4000 points and still vastly outperformed the predictions of a Trump presidency.
