Cell phone battery life going up as it ages

One typical issue of older phones is that they do not only get slower, but also loose battery faster.

I always thought that the age of the battery is the main factor but I found out that it’s mainly the cr@pware on your phone.

My three year old cell phone used to consume 50% of its battery per day just for standby. Removing normal apps didn’t change anything. However, after rooting the phone and deleting some suspicious system apps that one cannot delete officially, I’m down to 5% per day for standby, which means that charging once per week is sufficient.

I’ll never buy a phone again which cannot be rooted.

Does that include "reset to factory defaults" which you can do with an iPhone.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

No. The battery draining apps where part of the original operating system and would not be removed by a factory reset.
