I see a list of 8 countries who should find something nice in their stockings.

These countries voted with US as UN condemns Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital

The United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly voted to declare President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital “null and void” on Thursday.

The assembly voted 128 to 9 with 35 abstentions. The resolution was co-sponsored by Turkey and Yemen.

The vote, while a victory for Palestinians, was significantly lower than supporters had hoped for. U.S. ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley warned that the vote would “make a difference on how Americans look at the U.N. and on how we look at countries who disrespect us in the U.N., and this vote will be remembered.”

These are the countries that voted against the resolution:

Guatemala

Honduras

Israel

Marshall Islands

Micronesia

Nauru

Palau

Togo

United States

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

And what benefit to Israel or its allies has appeasement brought? Zip. Rockets raining on civilians.

Doesn't a country have the right to declare its own capital?

Should other nations not abide by the declaration?

Why is this so hard?

I'm glad Ambassador Haley took notes...and names.

Bach...

What's the sentiment in Israel about this stuff?

What's the feeling about the UN resolution?

i think if the Palestinians had a good case for a settlement now would be an incredible time to put it forward. The UN has provided a couple of times now about as much tail wind as they can.

I think I've mentioned previously, this thing seems to be getting more play in the US then here.

I think most Israelis consider Jerusalem the Capitol long before last week.
And most Israelis don't take the UN very seriously, when the most repressive nations on earth can sit in moral judgment over others.

We r just waiting for the storm to die out (it will) and soon enough another storm will take its place. In the meantime, people just sort of keep on living.

I am pleased that Canada abstained from voting. The resolution simply was not worth the diplomatic effort.

As a result we earned an invitation to schmooze at Ambassador Haley's Friendship Reception.

If you’re an American, you just don’t want your representatives up there threatening the rest of the world. ‘Cause guess what, Mika? We’re going to need them on Iran. We’re going to need their help on North Korea. We may need their help again in Syria. We’re going to need their help in a thousand places. And yes, they’re going to need our help, too. And guess what? We’re not going to work together if Nikki Haley is going up there humiliating the United States of America by threatening our allies over a non-binding resolution. It’s just like Donald Trump’s tweets. Every response has to be a nuclear response. There is no subtlety of thought.

I got yer subtlety right here, Joe:

Very good piece. Thanks. Nice to see something that doesn't serve to define the area as armed camps.

Well, what about Myanmar?? LOL

Capital is Naypyidaw. US embassy is in Rangoon. (Though pretty much all embassies are still there from all countries).
