My daughter just bought a bottle of gin from Columbus. Says it is great, very floral.

There's lots of good stuff in Minnesoooooooota.

Speaking of which, I made concord grape jam today, using only 2/3 of the recommended sugar. Ohhhh ... it's pretty darn yummy. I prefer it a bit tart and sweet, not super sweet like stuff from the typical grocery.

I think it would be great with rosemary and other herbs on a pork roast, maybe even lamb. I put some on our baked chicken tonight. Delish!

Whoever comes to Minnesoooooooota for a visit will get to have some! :)

Gin.

Seriously, I don't know.
Maybe "4 Peel" - a local distiller.

Pity I missed the gin and vodka festival in August. Those festivals are one of the things I like best about Ohio.

Brenda, do you do any smoking? I smoked some pork loins last night that would be perfect with your jam!

We have a smoker, but have not used it in a while. I should have hubby set it up again. He's our resident smoker. :smokin:

That jam sounds wonderful. MFR's mom used to make grape jam every year from herbown vines. It was delicious.

So...how do you figure yours would ship?

That's not the deal. Ya gotta be here in person for this.

There could be some homemade bread, fresh from the oven, if you let me know when you will arrive.

If you like tart....I don't know if y'all have wild muscadines that far north, but they'll whup a domesticated grape sideways when it comes to making a good jelly or jam.

It ain't mayhaw, but it's mighty good.😁

Jolly, in looking at various websites, it appears most muscadines need to be grown in zones 7 to 10, with a few hardy to zone 6. Even my southern location in Minnesoooooooota is zone 4, so they wouldn't fare well here.

We have varieties that do well here in the cold country, such as Frontenac, Marquette, Concord, Edelweiss, Swenson Red, and Valient. We've started some of the Marquette, Edelweiss, and Frontenac. They're out in the very back part of our property, and not easily watered, so I hope they make it. There was a little bit of fruit this year, not enough to make anything, so maybe next year we'll see the first real crop.
