Where else can you find one million posts about passenger vehicle motor oil?

A guy that got transplanted around the same time I did spent 35 years at Mobile Oil.

In fact, you remember that commercial in the 70s or 80s showing them cook Mobile 1 in a frying pan? He actually did that. (as a tech dude, not a marketing dude).

He would love that site.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Visit any car or motorcycle forum and ask what oil you should use - that will get you close to a million responses. :)

From what I can tell, with modern engines it doesn't make any difference.

Tell that to the riders in the SV650 and Monster forums. ;)

I follow Toyota 4Runner forums. Lots of opinions.

But oil doesn't matter. The engines make 500K miles, no problem.

250-300,000, I'd believe. 500,000 routinely?

Got any data for that?

Just giving you a hard time, Steve.

Oil for gearheads is like produce for fit folks.
Endless discussion on standards, ratings, etc., it’s like someone trying to convince you you’ll die eating the GMO corn in your basket vs. their GMO corn with an organic stamp on it. At the end of the day it’s metabolized as a starch either way.

That said, we have a local amsoil guy (mechanic friend in town) who makes a pretty good case for amsoil, and as a sport bike enthusiast I’ll definitely concede that there are differences in oil between brands when you’re pushing an engine.
