PhlebasII, do you remember your dad talking about that one guy on the forum who was borderline genius, that everyone loved because of his gift of tact and diplomacy, and never said a harsh word to anyone? That wasn't me...... |

Flaming Asshole Recipe: 1/2 oz grenadine syrup 1/2 oz green creme de menthe 1/2 oz creme de bananes 1/2 oz overproof rum Layer in this order: grenadine, creme de menthe, banana liqueur, white rum. Ignite rum before serving. Server with a straw. Serve in: Shot Glass A really minty, fruity taste, the banana is subtle and the grenadine adds just enough sweetness. Try it! |

I remember him, he was an interesting and intelligent poster. The board is poorer for his absence. |

I miss him. It was always interesting to know what he thought about stuff. Plus the musical talent was darned impressive. |

Hey Phlebas2 - there are two people that don't post much anymore that may have a video of your dad playing the Ravel at my party. I'll reach out to them and see if I can post a copy. |

Here's the video clip. It's only 10 seconds long, but you can hear how well he plays the piece. If you're not familiar with the piece, here's a full clip from Jean-Yves Thibaudet. It takes a hell of a lot of piano technique to play this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCmbEIewKYo Oh - that's me listening intently. Forgive all the Philistines running around chatting in the presence of such glorious playing. ![]() Got some pictures too from a different piano party, I'll post them at the other site I linked you to. |

I did not know Phlebas but to be remembered as he has been is a true tribute to his life. It has been said that in passing when some go it is like turning off a TV set. Some are remembered from time to time by only those closest to them. To be remembered by those who have not met a person and to have their ideas, thoughts, things they have done retold and emulated is a life well lived. What a father you must have had. |

A very warm welcome to you! Of course I remember your dad. He always struck me as an incredibly intelligent, well rounded person. He knew so much about so many things, and had thoughtful, insightful, comments on a huge variety of issues. What I remember, and miss the most was his delicious sense of humour. I bet he was a terrific dad.
