Mmmmmmm, pie!
I started a thread back some time ago telling about my 24 year old cat, and how her kidneys were shutting down, etc..... and how we took her to the vet numerous times and had them give her fluid and stuff....

Well.......

and in a way this is a bit embarrassing........

The cat has her own bedroom. Her bedroom has its own bathroom. But her litter pans are in the basement. We were making decisions regarding her condition based on a considerably reduced use of the litter pans.... she has always refused to do number 1 and number 2 in the same pan, hence "pans".........

A few weeks after I posted the thread about her condition, she was not only still alive, but back to her normal old self. But still no pee in her pan. We just could NOT figure it out.... until Sarah just happened to go into the bathroom in the cat's bedroom, and caught the cat in the bathtub, hunkered down over the drain, taking a piss in the tub.......

As it seems to have turned out, the cat decided it was just too much stress on her tired old bones to make the trip to the basement to her litter pans, and she figured out that the tub had a drain in it which carried away her pee, so that's where she pees now..... We moved both her litter pans into that bathroom, she uses the number 2 pan, but the number 1 pan stays dry. She prefers to use the bathtub...

so other than walking stiff legged, having no teeth, having to stop walking to realign herself toward where she's going sometimes because she starts veering off course......

it seems that cat may outlive me.....

..............
What a smart kitty! Yes, pans need to be close, and low enough for her to get into easily.

You're sweet to accommodate her. :)
