I think what is most interesting is the corporate culture and how that culture has changed over time. That part is true...The meteoric rise from janitor to IT head, is not typical at all.

Interesting that the article did not mention that another huge difference is that in one era the unskilled labor was all US citizens, today not so much if at all in many places.

That would probably eliminate most of the several jobs I had before age 22.
