For Labor Day

Probably the final time for this year, the cold weather is already starting.

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Today is the last day the town pool is open. Fortunately the high today is 81 rather than the mid-sixties of the last few days. I'll be taking the boy and his friend.

And grilling tonight, just haven't figured out what.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

HOLY CARP!!!
Still really hot here - 30ish. We have another 4 days or so of the heat, and predicted smoky winds, and then, finally, it seems we have some rain coming later in the week.

Nice backyard, Copper. That pool looks inviting!

Beautiful pool, Copper. But why all the time on the treadmill when you could be swimming instead?
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

No lifeguard needed on the treadmill. I hit 18,000 miles on the treadmill a few days ago. I usually only swim about one day per year, not yet this year, maybe today.

Wow, 18,000 miles? Where do you put your dirty clothes?

Impressive Copper. I'm guessing that is a decade or more. To say you have a strong habit is an understatement. TV, podcast or something else to pass the time?

Wow.

I've only done 535 miles, but I only started in January. I'll reach your level when I'm 85.

Jon's way ahead of me as well.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

I started in 2001, so now it's 16+ years. My times are up and distances are down but I get on the treadmill and/or elliptical most days.

And I took my once a year swim today. A few laps and a few minutes of neutral buoyancy and once again I think I should use it more often.

I just got the 2000mi badge the other day. Started 11 months ago. So I'll hit 18k miles in my mid-late 50s.

I'm also only doing thrice-weekly.

Of the 16 years there was only one over 2,000. The miles do take a toll. If somebody made a running shoe with 6 inches of fluffy pillows on the bottom I would buy them. There is no such thing as enough cushioning.

Hey George, you would know about this. More often than not these days I have some kind of old man pain in the ankles or feet when I crawl out of bed. But after maybe 10 minutes on the treadmill I rarely still feel the pain. What magic causes that or is it just in my head?

And yes Davis lots of movies, mostly Netflix and Amazon and mostly Action and Adventure movies to make the time fly.
