I'm not a chain dining fan, but they're alright in a strange place if you don't want a surprise. But in most towns, even fairly small ones, the best food and the best experience is found in the local places.

Here's one that's gone (there's another owner and menu there now)...I've never eaten there, but I wish I had...the concept of "feed me" as a non-menu item is interesting...

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
In my extensive business travels I have two rules.

1. Never eat at the hotel unless it is room service, and then sparingly.

2. Never eat at any place you have at home.

Business travel is a drag enough as it is. Exploring local cuisine is one of the few pleasures it offers. North Carolina this spring and summer was a veritable cornucopia of great local restaurants.

Why? I've had some good meals at the hotels I've stayed at.

Like, breakfast at LePavillon in New Orleans where they put bacon on top of the bacon.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

That is some good looking bacon.
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Most business travelers do not stay at hotels like LePavillon, and NO is an exception anyway.

Shucks, I would have confused that plate with the stuff at the Holiday Inn Express... ;)

Yep. I've never had bad room service food. Uh... The breakfast buffet can get a little dodgy from time to time, though.
