When your alarm goes off in the morning, do you just immediately get up, or do you use snooze and for how long? My first iPhone alarm goes off at 2:30am. I hit snooze. An additional alarm starts going off every 15-20 min or so, so that eventually instead of it going off every 9 minutes it'll be going off every couple minutes and gradually getting more and more annoying to try and get myself up. At 3:30am my actual alarm clock across the room goes off. I actually have to get up for 2-3 seconds to hit snooze on that one. Usually 3-4 snoozes as I need to be out of bed around 4. |

I have a low-tech clock radio. I used to hit the snooze button once, for 10 minutes. |

When I explain my alarms to people they say "well you're not a morning person!" That's not true. On weekends when I have no alarms I'm still usually up by 6. I prefer being up early and going to bed early. I love mornings and they're the only time I really get much done. I'm just not a waking up person. When I get out of bed, every inch of my body starts screaming "WHATTHEF*CKAREYOUDOINGGETBACKINBEDGOBACKTOSLEEP". If I just suffer through that for 30 seconds I'm wide awake and can't get back to sleep if I try. I suppose the hour and a half of snoozing time is really just preparing myself for that godawful 30 seconds. Trouble is "across the room" means get out of bed and take one step. I can get to the alarm, snooze it and be back in bed in under 2 seconds. |

Yeah, that too. The unfortunate thing is that my "Go to bed at 10-11 and wake at 5" routine persists to this day. |

It's been many years since I regularly used an alarm. Maybe once or twice a year if I have to get up early. And then I usually get up before it goes off. |

It seems you lose one hour of quality sleep time by hitting the snooze button between 2:30~3:30. One hour of good, deep sleep can do wonders for the mind and body compared to one hour of oft-interrupted half sleep. Good luck. |

My best sleep comes between 5-7 AM. If I need to wake up at 4:30 or earlier, then one alarm and I am up and awake and ready to go. If the alarm goes off at 6:30, however, I can literally sleep through it and I am drowsy all day. |

I know, and the first 30 seconds after getting up is just as bad with no snoozes or 100 snoozes, but when the first alarm goes off I'm just not ready to deal with it yet. |

For me it's more important to think about how I am going to get 7-8 hours of sleep than how I am going to wake up. More sleep always equals a better day my unscientific study. I use an alarm if I need to be awake before 7. Biting the bullet and getting up on the first alarm is no more painful than conceding after 3-4 snoozes, but I sometimes do it anyway, always hopeful it will make a difference. |

I count backwards 8 hours from my first alarm and that's when I aim to go to bed. 6:30 is a bit early, but I aim for 7pm. Rarely works out, I probably get 5-6 hours a night, not counting my snooze sleep. |

Alarm goes off at 615. I close my eyes for a few minutes, then I'm out of bed by 620 or 625 M - F. Any other time I need an alarm I hit one 5- minute snooze, then close my eyes for 2 minutes then up. |

No alarm used here. I'm naturally up before I or Rachel need to be. So is the boy. The only time I set an alarm is if I have a very early flight with a car picking me up at 4 or 5am or so. And even then I'm likely to wake up before it goes off. |

When else can you choose to do the thing you most want to do in the world, other than when you hit the snooze button? At no other time of the day am I choosing to do exactly what I want to do. It would be a shame to sleep through that sort of opportunity. |

When the alarm clock rings, I turn it off, snooze for another 30 second, and get up. Riley's method seems to be a waste of sleep time, as Ax said. |

I usually wake up without a need for the alarm - I've set it half an hour later than I normally get up, just in case something stupid happens, but I shut it off as soon as I wake up so it doesn't go off. I absolutely hate waking up to an alarm. The few times I have to change my schedule and wake up earlier than usual, I do set it, but then spend a ridiculous amount of time during the night not sleeping and checking the time to make sure I haven't slept in and missed it. I'm just too old for the early morning alarm crap. Been there done that, tossed a few clocks across the room, etc. |
