HOLY CARP!!!
Another close friend died yesterday. 46 years old, massive heart attack. Scott was my first of two employees that I hired in the late 80's. Genius level IQ. I have never met nor will I ever meet someone smarter than Scott.

A good soul as well as mind. He has been working on a project for a few years that entailed the design and construction of an electron beam particle accelerator for a hospital in Flint Michigan. Living in Flint, Scott experienced lead poisoning from the god damned water supply. He went though months of symptoms before they finally admitted what was happening in Flint. Fvcking foul foul government! Yeah I'm venting. Sorry.

I recently learned that during his contract negotiations he really wanted to get the hell out of Flint and demanded a much higher fee to stay on the project which the upper ups, dismissed as not possible, but then relented because they just can't find someone to replace him. He really is THAT SMART! He never went to college, yet, he put PHDs in physics to shame several times due to their lack of knowledge. Did I mention that Scott was a friggin genius? He has multiple patents in the field of electronics and mechanical engineering. AND HE NEVER ATTENDED ONE COLLEGE CLASS.

The second, non-negotiable demand of his contract was that any child that is treated with his machine, would never be charged a dime. They acquiesced on that point as well. Good for you Scott. Good for you.

My oldest daughter was just a baby when Scott was at our house, sometimes into the wee hours as he as I worked on software projects for my fledgling company. My daughter, who was just learning how to speak, couldn't pronounce his name at that age and called him "Sock" He has been and will always be known as "Sock" to her. She is very sad and heavy with grief as am I and all who knew him.

Scott and I would get together every few months and get caught up with what was happening with work, family and of course electronic and mechanical toys. He got into RC with the advent of the racing quads and then went into the drone photography aspect of the hobby and did some pretty cool stuff.

The world lost a genius yesterday and one with a heart of gold.

I am really not doing too well emotionally right now. We had some friends over tonight for a fire-pit chat had some single malt and lifted glasses high for both, Scott and Pat.

I realize as I get older I will see more of this stuff but why does it always seem to come in waves?

I'm spent.

I've always heard that old folks died in threes, but these friends are certainly not old. Sadly, not even near it.

Sometimes, there just are no words that are really appropriate, so I'll just say I am truly sorry for the loss of an old friend and offer my condolences.

Mark, this is a hard loss, indeed. He certainly left the world a better place, and you are fortunate to have been part of his life. You have my condolences.

My condolences. It seems this is not only a loss for Scott's friends loved ones, but also for the wider world.

Sounds like an interesting and good guy. I'm sorry to hear of his passing at such a young age.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

So very sorry to hear this, Mark. That is way too young; such a loss.

I too, feel like I've been attending too many memorials these last few years.
