*What is 3rd Party Hosting?
Photobucket defines 3rd party hosting as the action of embedding an image or photo onto another website. For example, using the <img> tag to embed or display a JPEG image from your Photobucket account on another website such as a forum, Etsy, eBay auction listings, a blog, etc. is definitively 3rd party hosting.

I do not, have not. Asshats.

Most of the pictures I posted here are gone.

Gone from the posts, not from stupid photobucket.

That includes the one at the top of the page.

I guess that's it. Many years ago I likely posted a few photos here that I had on photobucket - since gone, and I've now cleaned out my photobucket account. I guess the fact that I did at one time actually use their site is enough for them. How to win back customers!

It seems like a stupid business move. They need to figure out another way to monetize the site.

It is definitely a stupid business move. It hasn't garnered any positive publicity for them. That's a red flag.

Yup. The outrage seems to be pretty widespread.

The interesting question is: How do you backtrack from it? Do you say "Oopsie! We made a boo-boo! Sorry 'bout that!" That will never earn loyalty - fool me once, etc.

I stopped using Photobucket years ago. Too slow to link, too slow to search. It turned into a steaming pile of dog crap.

I'm happy with postimage.org (though there's no search function).

That's what irks me, George. It's been years (possibly 10 or more) since I've used the site.

Identifying narcissists isn't difficult. Just look for the person who is constantly fishing for compliments

Coke didn't add a $400 fee and harrass people. It will be difficult to get people to come back after they have moved to a new service. It looks like photobucket will have a tough time ahead, even if they apologize

Agreed...

I've used it for years. I'm done. Moving and deleting everything from photobucket. Screw 'em.

I was already getting pissed with all the popup ads before I could do anything. Moved to the site George recommended. We'll see if that works out.

Like I said, there's no search function, and I don't think there's a way to use "albums."

I just use it for hot linking a photo if I need to. Anything I put there, as far as I'm concerned, is disposable - no loss if they go away.

If you're looking for a permanent solution for saving photos, look into Flickr (even though I don't use it) which a lot of people use for sharing. Don't know if you can hotlink from Flickr, however.

Just checked - nope, no hot linking a photo.

I like the interface. Much cleaner and way faster than PhotoBucket. How do they monetize their service?

postimg.org needs a button that says - copy all my stuff from photobucket and fix all the links in tncr

At postimg.org you don't have to sign up for the site, but if you do (it's free) you can arrange things in to "Galleries".

It looks like they may be having issues though - the site is very slow today. I wouldn't be surprised if they have so much new business they are having trouble keeping up.

Speaking of photos, I noticed that zeta seems to be shrinking them to fit.

This is a big picture but I see it here at a size that fits. This has been going on for a while.

Is this true for all pictures now?

Not only do I not pay photobucket, I also block the ads here.

If it wasn't for low-cost foreign labor these guys might be able to charge a reasonable rate for their services and help make America great again. Maybe we are starting to see the effect of Mr. Trump's policies.
