I can only imagine that people are betting their hunch that the fight will be fixed, that Mayweather will take a fall and set up a lucrative rematch. Does anybody think Mcgregor stands a chance in a legitimate match?

Probably. I know nothing about boxing, but I do know a bit about rigging results.

Mayweather, even though he's over the hill, is going to beat this bum like a drum.

Book it.

My bet is that if the fight isn't rigged, the MMA fighter get's his bell rung and unconsciously responds by taking Mayweather down to the ground with a kick or something. It's how his body is programmed to fight now, and I don't think a few months of boxing training will change that.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

Could be, LD. I'd watch to find out ... if it were free.

It's a shame that if mcgregor wins, everybody will assume it was fixed. The promotional tour is already full WWE so scripting the fight is just a short step.

I agree, and boxing already has a black eye following the last Pacquio fight.

Round 3, McGregor winning. Mayweather not throwing any punches.

TKO by Mayweather in the 10th. You heard it here first!

Apparently McGregor got very, very tired.

Sounds like a yawner.
ESPN said it was a pretty good fight, especially in the early rounds. Mayweather is one of the hardest to hit guys the ring has ever seen. He said it was his trainer's plan to let his opponent wear himself out and then take the fight to him.

That's exactly what happened, as I understand it.

For all his touted power, McGregor's punches even in the early rounds were weak.

Local Irish Pub was showing the fight with no cover. I went, but the place was packed. Had a bad dinner and 2 drinks standing up and got fed up and went home. Was asleep before the undercards were done.

Think they made enough money to cover the cost of buying the broadcast?

200 people so roughly 5k broadcast. Yeah, they covered, but probably didn't clear more than they would on a typical Saturday. My comments about the quality of the dinner and service aside (a result of being packed) I generally like the place. The owner wasn't out to make money, just get a big crowd to support his boy Connor, and get his staff some big tips. If I would have gotten there early enough to have gotten a seat, I likely would have stuck it out.

I figured Mayweather would fight like this. The only way McGregor stood a chance, was to cut off the ring, make it an ugly inside fight, and then beat the crap out Mayweather's ribs with some real power. As I understand it, Mayweather was throwing elbows, turning his back, and clowning around like the idiot that he is.

Why are we praising Conor McGregor for losing to Floyd Mayweather?

The praise McGregor received for his showing seems to imply that he's a legit boxer. But I sort of doubt that. I wonder how he would do against a journeyman club fighter.
