What about Fulton County?

That's where most of the uncounted votes are...

Fulton is a mix. North Fulton, where I lived when I lived there, is full of extremely wealthy whites. South Fulton is downtown Atlanta, and mostly poor blacks, though there has been an influx of white liberal fruitflies over the past 8 or 10 years. Probably not a great deal of turnout among the blacks downtown, though.

Right now Dekalb county has the most votes left to count, and it will depend on which areas those remaining precincts are in. If they're in Buckhead, the republican has won. But if the remaining precincts to count are from the ho de do part of the county... well.....

The Republican won.

According to the democrats, this election was a referendum on Trump. They said the outcome of this election would show whether or not Trump had a mandate from the people.

That's what they were saying when some polls predicted a win for Pajama Boy Carpetbagger Ossoff.

Now that he's lost, it's really not that important, you know.

And in other election news:

The democrats lose *another* seat in South Carolina.

I guess we have the answer to that "Trump referendum" question, huh.....

Seen on a blog:

Ossoff raised $23.6 million to make a symbolic run against President Trump, most of it from Marin County, California and Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. Running the numbers, Democrats might have been better off considering that same amount would have bought 855,072 school lunches (at $2.76 each); 236,000 elementary school textbooks (at $100 each) or even 956 Priuses (at $24,685 each).

On the other hand, a Handel win is not anywhere near the victory/mandate/endorsement the Trump team will claim it to be. This is a Republican district. The only reason it was close: A lot of Republicans voted for a Democrat. So, the GOP victory on the merits is pretty limited. Spending enough money to scald a wet mule (to borrow a phrase from Haley Barbour) to hold on to a district that Tom Price (Trump’s HHS secretary) and Newt Gingrich held is not a sign of Republican health. I’m okay with calling that a moral victory for Ossoff, as the media certainly will. But a moral victory plus $1.89 will buy me a large coffee at my local Starbucks. Meanwhile, a literal defeat for the GOP would have been a disaster.

In this case, I think Jonah knoweth not what he is talking about. Atlanta, like other growing cities in the South, has a lot of folks not born and raised down here. They retain their coastal, liberal Democrat voting patterns.

Plus, in this race, the Dem positioned himself much as a moderate Republican, advocating fiscal responsibility, etc.

I think it's a hoot the Dems threw so much money at a race they lost.

CNN, upon learning that the republican won the Georgia election:

That is the swamp.

That's it right there.

A few years back that lady second from the left made her living by rolling her eyes and giggling every time someone said Sarah Palin.

She kept up the eye rolling and giggling for most of a year, that's just about all she did.

I would have loved to be in a production meeting where they planned the eye rolling and giggling. I would have loved to see how they planned the cameras to catch her eye rolling and giggling just as Wolf said Sarah Palin. You don't make the money she makes with average eye rolling and giggling, you have to be world class and after a year of constant practice she was.

The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

A new record $50 million!

I believe the old record was $30 million - big jump.

Is there anything more perfect than the fact that money works in politics?

If you want to teach people "wisdom", teach them about the effect of money on everything.

It's an abstraction of violence where people don't have to get hurt.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

It seems Jeb Bush started this current trend by spending a boat load of money and being told 'no thank you'. HRC pulled a fast one on Bernie and broke the bank to earn her participation trophy.

$1.89 won't even buy you a small coffee at Starbucks.
