When people overstay their visas...

Many people do. So, a small change which will cost very little...From now on, a bond must be posted when a visa is issued. When the person returns home, the money is refunded. If the person overstays their visa, 90 days after expiration a bench warrant is issued and the bond money goes to the first bounty hunter who brings in the lawbreaker.

Simple. Cheap. Effective.

How much would it cost? And would it apply to those of us who live very close to the border and cross over a few times a year? Or is this only for your southern border?

I doubt there are many Canadian illegal immigrants.

There goes "small government" advocate Jolly ... who proposes a brand new, federal bond and bounty system that will impact about 70 million visitors each year for less than 1.2% of those who "overstay" their visas.

Finally
For all the hand-wringing we see about how we should follow the examples of other nations (see the "Inconvenient Sequel" thread), can anyone enlighten me as to what other nations do with people who overstay their visas, or are in the country illegally?

Oh, and 1.2% of 70 million visitors is 840,000.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

Aha, those numbers are using only air and sea travel numbers but exclude land travel. I would think the numbers for Canada and Mexico would likely reverse is studying land arrivals?

Pretty much self-funding. And concerning those who violate the law, pure free enterprise is doing the work, not the government.
