Whatcha doing tomorrow? Getting any due tribute?

I think i will just spend the day with my girls. Wanted to smoke a prime rib, but they did not look great today so I bought three humongous racks of baby backs.

Mik, I had plans to take hubby out for brunch tomorrow , but he's thinking he would rather just stay home all day.

It's all good. We're having a manly steak dinner here at home tonight, and we'll have his favorite homemade pizza tomorrow night. I have a decadent chocolate cake in the oven, which will get a chocolate ganache frosting, and be served with fresh strawberries. I suspect there will also be some beverages, perhaps an afternoon mojito with raspberries.

Hubby deserves to be spoiled. :)

Every day is father's day here at D'Oh Acres. At least, that's what I've been told.

I'm going to be continuing to clean up in the basement after our water incident! :excited:

Went down to FIL's today and had lunch. Shrimp etoufee on rice, fresh baked bread, some snap beans from the garden and a pineapple cake.

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

My wife got tickets to The Summergrass Bluegrass Festival for Fathers Day. She must really love me because she doesnt like bluegrass one little bit. :hearts:

The music is awesome and the food is terrific, but the absolute best was jamming in the campground after last night's show with some of best musicians I have ever had the honor to accompany. We played well in to the morning and I've been invited back tonight. :thumb:

A family walk on the trails in the morning. In the afternoon the boy and I are going to see a movie. And in the evening the three of us are going to dinner.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Big chinese spread... or so I'm told. Her parents are here as are my parents and sis-in-law and nephew. Her parents are busy in the kitchen.

Ribs are salted, dry brined, rubbed and on the grill running right about 240.

My MIL is 78, my FIL is 80.

Even with some eyesight and heart problems, he still gets on his tractor and mows his place - all twenty acres. My MIL was one of 13 children and that family works. I mean works. Her nickname is the White Tornado and even at 78, she can still put most 25 year-old women in the ground. This year, she's already put up 31 quarts of snap beans for me, half of which she helped me pick.

She is a wonderful cook, in a farm cooking kind of way and a very good baker. Bread, cakes, pies and cobblers from scratch, usually with homegrown ingredients.

This is the first year in her grown life she hasn't made a big garden, and I haven't heard the end of it...In a couple of weeks, I'm going to have to build her a couple of raised beds or she won't be fit to live with.

BTW, did I mention she still keeps my daughter's baby a couple of days a week?...

Wow. That's a very good life to live. Good for her, and good for all her kids' genes. Yes, staying busy is key to staying active in the later years. She sounds like my husband's grandmother, who lived to be 93 and stayed in her own home until just a few months before she died.
