An interesting perspective.

That guy better be careful or instead of getting Priebus' job he'll get Spicer's.

But seriously, to his points - I think there's something to the notion that he knows what he's doing in terms of using twitter to disrupt and drive the conversation, and to bypass the media and speak right to his base. But many of the particulars strike me as never ending amateur hour. Think of his needless and costly antagonizing of South Korea right before their election, for example (as Krauthammer so eloquently lamented). On the domestic side, I think someone would be hard pressed to say his management of the GOP in congress displays that he knows exactly what he is doing.

In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

That Trump is different, at least in his approach to the presidency, is obvious. That he's evil in his motivations, far far less so. That it's normal to consider someone so different to be evil in his motivations, is also obvious.

That Trump is different, at least in his approach to the presidency, is obvious. That he's evil in his motivations, far far less so. That it's normal to consider someone so different to be evil in his motivations, is also obvious.

To consider Trump evil is to misunderstand him completely. The opposite would in fact be closer to the truth. If a deer gets in your house and causes hundreds of dollars of damage as it thrashes about trying to escape, you might blame the deer, but you wouldn't hate it; it was just following its nature and knew no better. In a way, Trump's particular deficiencies cocoon him in the same kind of innocence.

I've never hated Trump. Before this, if I thought of him at all, it was as an annoying blowhard who was some sort of genius in real estate construction. But I hate what he's done, and I hate, hate, hate that he is where he is. He cannot do the job. This is so obvious that it mystifies me that there are those even now who do not -- or will not -- see this. What is scary about Trump is the nature of his deficiency or rather, what that deficiency may lead him to do: his lack of empathy and his narcissism. His is not the self confidence of the competent, of one who is supremely in his rightful spot in the world, who you couldn't see doing anything else, like Einstein or Picasso. Trump's confidence in himself stems from his incapacity to recognize his incapacity. This enrobes him in innocence, but because of where he is, it is that innocence that is so utterly terrifying. His blundering obduracy could get you killed.

I don't doubt he loves the country, insofar as he is able to love anything, but he loves it the way a cowboy loves his horse: He knows that he would die out there without it. But he is no more motivated by evil than the moon and stars.

You are quite mistaken. And you hold this opinion because of some predetermined view that you have of him, not because you're using any facts - and I find your statement that those who don't see it your way to be ignorant, and offensive. Because you see, the opposite is true: that he CAN do the job, and in fact is the only one who COULD do the job after it has been so thoroughly f*cked up by Obama is so obvious that it mystifies me that you can't see THAT.

Trump has accomplished a hell of a lot that's good for the country. Your view is uninformed.

How many social followers does Trump actually have?

So, a major media outlet wrote a story questioning the truthiness of Donald Trump's claims about his number of social media followers.

This major media outlet relentlessly publicizes every single one of them.

Cats, I have commended you on your wisdom, but let me take a moment, and just one sentence (quoted above), to point out things that you should perhaps consider. This is just one sentence, I won't try to "rip" your entire perspective apart, as I think you espouse common themes of the Left.

"His is not the self-confidence of the competent..." What do you mean? He is a billionaire. If you are going to state something like "is not the self-confidence of the competent" then surely you realize that you need to define what you mean by "self confident" and why in your view he is not, and then link to "of the competent" which would again require you to define what "competent" means. Do you have any data, empirical evidence, facts, that you could offer to substantiate?

I also have a huge issue with your statement, "one who is supremely in his rightful spot in the world..." Heck, I'm stumbling through life, tell me what my "rightful spot in the world" means? Frankly, someone that lobbed this at me, would make me quite angry. "My rightful spot" for existing, according to you??

You mention Einstein. Yes, his contribution could and has been, justified by those that can utilize highest levels of math(s) to glean genius. OK, that's fine. He's a billionaire. Must Know Math.

But then you mention Picasso. There are no "highest levels of math(s)" quoting myself, that could justify his "rightful spot in the world." If you would back up several decades, and saw your first Picasso, what would you say? "Here is the efforts of one, that lie outside of my insistence of being categorized and hence, remarkable?" hmmm. Picasso sucks. Next.

Or, the guy is untalented, does not understand his rightful spot in the world (loser) as determined by me, because that's how I feel.

Interesting to me, that there is a core of hatred that some (perhaps you?) are fighting hard to understand, and come to grips with.

Me? I think he is a third rail. And, unfortunately, he will go down. Not because of facts or arguments based upon anything other than a continuous search for removing him from office, and finding something to connect correlation to support his removal. But, because the legislative platforms have become respectively insignificant: the Dems and Republicans are in bed with each other, the power, the money, the ambitions, and Trump stands in the way of a self-serving way of life. Same in the E.U.

The republicans will continue to sit on the sidelines, watching the wind blow. They control the executive branch, the legislative branch, and pretty much the supreme court. But, they all stand on the sidelines, in the shadows, unwilling to stand for anything other than their personal self interests. Disgusting. They equally enjoy the huge swamp, they don't mind playing second fiddle, as long as it continues to pay well.

My opinion? If Trump survives the daily Democrat and Republican support for continued "investigations" cooked up, then he will be assassinated. One way or another, he will be be gone. THAT IS OR WILL BE THE OUTCOME, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER!! Kick him out, or kick him off.

It would be remarkable for him to survive, he has pretty much feeble support at best, he's on his own with few exceptions ranging from politicians to main stream media. And he has sensible people like you, that condemn him with subjective preconceived notions of what he should be, based upon what you are told to believe he should be.

And then, we would be back to the status quo, after lots of meaningless anguish. Pence (controllable).

"Here's the new boss, same as the old boss!"

We almost broke loose, that was close, whew!!

Cats, take the above with a grain of salt. Just my rant.

I well take your point. I should have been clearer. I've always found Trump to be a savant; very competent in the one field of real estate, and ignorant in all else. As far as what self confident means, I mean it in the usual way: the self confident man who busts a move because he's good at what he does and he's formed the judgment and he knows what will work, and he lays down a record of doing so. As far as empirical evidence, you have your observation of dozens of goofs and glaring mis-speaks and disgraceful and obnoxious attacks made worse by, in many cases, their ridiculousness. And the lies. I wouldn't know where to begin with listing examples. And all of these from a man who doesn't have the ability to witness how egregiously wrong he is for the part. Because to do that, he'd have to use comparison, and he doesn't do that because he doesn't know how.

I can't say it any better than that. You ask me to define what blue is. It's . . . it's . . . it's blue! What more do you need to know???

Rightful spot in the world . . . hm, either we're in it or we're not, each of us. Many of us aren't. Picasso spending his life in an accounting office. Trump's metier is in acting on his own inspiration and inclination and judgment and not being accountable. Political position, especially in a democracy, is virtually the opposite -- as he is discovering -- and he's coping by means of smoke and mirrors and misdirection. And Tweets.

Indeed, I didn't mean "rightful spot" according to me. As you say, that's not for me to say!

Agreed a thousand percent. Yes, disgusting. Last summer they stood around with their thumbs in their ears because they wouldn't believe Trump had a chance over the various contenders they came up with -- and guess what, folks? Did they learn their lesson? Apparently not.

No, no, absolutely not. I base my observance on what I myself have seen him be and do from the beginning. As for what "he should be", there is nothing he should be in the office of the President, because he is so starkly ill-suited for it. I'm 5'3"; what should I be if I intend to be a basketball star? What can you possibly say? It can never happen, so there's no "should".

I've never been able to put into words what I want to say next. Talking about Republicans this and Democrats that vis-a-vis Trump, what's in my mind is sort of chaotic. It's like, people of both camps are addressing an impossible situation. He's just so staggeringly, absurdly, impossibly inappropriate in the position -- WTH do you do??? It's like finding a rhinoceros in a ballroom; now what? So they do what politicians always do because what else is there? And everybody -- MSM, you and I -- go along with these machinations and act like business as usual. When all of it is more like that old vaudeville act with the guy running up and down balancing 12 spinning plates on 12 sticks. It can't last for long, and everybody knows it, but what are we going to do?

If it wasn't the "investigation", yes, it would be something else, because that's how politics works. It just makes less sense than usual because, well, Trump the Rhino. And it's not like there's an overwhelming degree of sparkling talent in the Congress.

Ach, I knew I'd bungle it.

Maybe there's a reason for that. Maybe it's the only model we've got. You have to figure many before this have tried doing things differently, and failed, and reverted back to the SOS. The more things change, the more they remain the same, yes? Maybe the worst favor political candidates do is promise things that they later discover can't be made to happen. Again.

Thanks, Cats. I always enjoy corresponding with you, as you are always sincere and polite, and I always learn from you.

I can agree with much of what you say, in terms of how he lacks tact and traditional decorum of a politician in high office.

But frankly, I turn on "This Week" with George Stephanopolis, and I start to boil as once again, every segment is a litany of anti-Trump bashing. How about CNN? You can guess what I think of them. Or Fox (they are more subtle, pretending to be "Fair and Balanced")

I admire the chutzpah in the man. Remarkable, in that he could easily allow himself to be controlled and "correct" by handlers. They did get him to use a teleprompter, which is comforting.

So, which would you prefer: continuous, daily search for a means for impeachment, or simply media/politicians obstructing and not supporting most of what he campaigned on, tasteless unending ridicule from sports/hollywood/etc. to destroy his character and to use such destruction to create unending turmoil, etc. etc.

Ideology is bigger than any particular idea in D.C. And I think any single good thing he does will never be enough, as giving in to him on even a couple of good "deals" will not result in the "winner takes all" mentality and viscious fight between the powerful Left, and the weak Right.

Bring on congressional Term Limits!!

And if they cannot bring him down, there are so many groups worldwide that despise him, I think he could end up being assassinated if nothing else works to destroy him and those he represents.

Uprisings, riots in the streets!! Nope. We are too docile and comfortable in our daily lives in this country. Would have years of "investigations" though. And of course if he were assassinated, the Russians did it. And then we'd have a war somewhere, lots of money to be made, government would need to grow, and those who actually control things, will be back in control.

BTW - I don't really believe all of the above, but I'm sure it does convey my cynical perspective and disgust with the political establishment and how what's best for the people is an afterthought.

Not much gets a lot of press these days, must not be all that much worth reporting from around the world (though I have finally seen reports on the huge fires in Portugal).

I guess I haven't paid attention -- what does get a lot of press? Cable is 24/7, Sunday morning news programs on every MSM channel, they must be talking about something that is more important than everything else?

What could it be. . . what could it be. . .
