HOLY CARP!!!
The first one is not bluegrass. Country Folk with a Newgrass lean maybe.

The second is pop music played in a true bluegrass style, not unlike what the The Seldom Scene and few other big name Bluegrass bands have been doing now and then for the past 35 or more years. Some folks like it, others don't. I am of the opinion that it works with some tunes and not others.

Speaking of bluegrass, I heard Salley interviewed today...He said the best storytelling songwriters are in Bluegrass today, not country.

He also said there are hundreds, if not thousands, of really good songs just gathering dust in Nashville publishing houses.

I would agree with Salley about the story telling. No need to mention the late James King for that, but Tim Stafford of Blue Highway and David Peterson come immediately to mind.

Yeah, I saw the video before some months ago. If I'm not mistaken, they're from Saskatchewan. To be honest, they leave me pretty cold.
