If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
Not for me. But I have for years used Accuweather. Now they, like Whitepages and a host of others, want you to subscribe at a cost.

Nah.

I can't see enough people paying for this kind of stuff to make it viable.
What do you mean "we", have you got a mouse in your pocket?

I can't understand giving software/web content/IT services away for free.

I know that some make money with advertising or other schemes but just plain open/free stuff can't last.
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

I'm happy to pay for good service. A good website costs money. Why not pay for it if you use it?

I'll pay for something I can't get elsewhere if I really want it. I'm not paying for the bloody weather forecast.

The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

Even for weather you won't get the same content for free.

I paid $5 or so for a weather app on my phone that gives me 14 day weather forecast with everything there is to know about the weather in a clearly laid out and ad-free format.

If I want a free weather forecast, I get a 3 day or at most 7 day forecast on a website where I have to find the actual forecast among 90% ads and BS.

Those $5 were well invested money.
