Naw, its way simpler than that. Pence's positions are readily available on the internet.

The speech had no import
Enlighten me. What was in the speech?
What does it matter? His positions are on the internet for all to see.

What's cool about that is that he may end up personally responsible for the continuance of the Trump administration through 2020.

Steve, it's time you faced the facts - the democrat party has failed. Your political viewpoints have failed. You need to accept the fact that liberalism and the democrat party are dead, and you're clinging to a failed belief system that has left you unable to tell right from wrong.

There was nothing wrong with Pence's speech, and there's nothing wrong with Pence. In fact, he is a very good man, and his views and political beliefs are a great improvement over the stupidity we've had to deal with the past 8 years.

Trying to paint the man in a negative light the way you are doing simply makes you look like a fool.

Wrong, you silly, drunk fool.

The ONLY excuse one could conjure up for such sorry behavior, is if Pence had said or done something so horrible during his speech, that a reasonable person could not in good conscience sit there.

Maybe the one thing he has supported in the past that drove these idiots to make an arse out of themselves, is his position on not killing babies. And if that be the case, why didn't they just stay home?

No, they are the exact opposite of the ones I want working for me. I do not want to employ self important little dickwads who don't know the meaning of respect.

Part of being an adult is respecting those with whom you disagree.

Sorry, no.

Respect is earned. You don't earn it, you don't get it. I taught my kids that and it stuck.

Proud of them.
So essentially they are entitled to disrespect anyone they either don't know or disagree with.

Civilriffic!

My God, but we're turning into a dreary bastion of puritanism, aren't we, though.

So some students walked out on a politician. For reasons that have nothing to do with you.

If any of these students burned a flag, your heads would probably explode. Getting kind of brittle, aren't you?

Y'all gotta watch out for that snowflakehood; it's contagious.

P.S. And yes, Mik, that's exactly right; they are entitled to disrespect anyone they either don't know or disagree with.

Legally, yes. But that's not the kind of society I want to live in. It is certainly not how I raised my daughter. You accord everyone you meet respect unless they clearly show you they don't deserve it.

Then we're even. If I thought I was doomed to live in your world, where everyone was required to behave as alike as clothespins by the exact same standards of behavior, I'd shoot myself. Give me plenty of variety, even if I disapproved of some of it.

So you find acceptable diversity in a lack of civility. Swell.

Yes. Not desirable or ideal, but I can live with it. "Lack of civility" covers a wide waterfront.

Burn a flag?

Maybe in your world, people would walk by, and say nothing. Down here, your chances might be better if you strode down MLK Boulevard, with a noose in your hand, hollering, "All niggas deserve to die!"

I suspect either action of extreme disrespect would lead to immediate violence.

No ma'am, I understood your point.

There is a time and place for disrespect. Otherwise, respect should be given, until shown to be otherwise.

I think this explains my viewpoint pretty well:

Variety is inherent in nature. Feeling the need to demonstrate it publicly to feel validated is immaturity.

And you're certain that was their sole motive.

You know, I might put some credence in the motive argument, if Notre Dame had invited David Duke as their commencement speaker. They didn't. Pence is the VP of the U.S.

As bad as I cannot stand Hillary Clinton, if she had been the speaker at my children's college graduation and my kids had walked out, there would be hell to pay. You don't agree with the woman? You don't like her? Fine. Now sit down, shut up and respect the position and the occasion, if nothing else.

For all things, there is a time and a place, and if one doesn't understand that, we're all about one step away from anarchy. Manners are the lubricant that makes society work.

My God, but we're turning into a dreary bastion of puritanism, aren't we, though.

You don't have to be a puritan to understand that those students were impolite.

That is exactly the quality in Mr. Trump that has caused all the trouble.

I guess on some level it is the sincerest form of flattery.

And it certainly should be repeated by the posters here that there is something wrong with impolite behavior.

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy
