There's a reason no team wants to touch Kaepernick, even beyond the fact that he's a marginal player. He's bad for business. We'll see if this move into more politics will be bad for business for ESPN too.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

ESPN chose sides years ago.

They are now hard left, consistent with ownership by ABC and Disney.
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

It's always about the Benjamins.

Always.

Idiots.

You're digging a hole and your solution is to dig faster...With the exception of Mike & Mike, even most of their radio stuff has gotten crappy. 😡

I'd love to see stats on the shift in demographics of ESPN's viewership over the last 25 years. I bet it's been dramatic.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

And they are splitting them up. Greenberg is going to be hosting some weird Good Morning America Sports themed show on the TV side, and Golic will continue the radio show, likely with his son and Stu Gotz. http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/pattisonave/Mike-Greenberg-Mike-Golic-ESPN-Radio-Mike-and-Mike.html?mobi=true

Disney who owns ESPN reported Q2 earnings last week. The Disney empire earnings beat expectations, but revenue missed because ESPN turned in awful numbers, dragging Disney's entire cable operation down, with year over year 3% decreases in operating income. It will be interesting to see how Disney addresses the problem.

They overpaid on Monday Night Football, then had the same ratings issue that every sports based entity faces in a contentious election year, this reduced their ad revenue significantly. The issue has been compounded by them paying an army of on air personalities (most of whom probably put in less than 5 hours a week, and get high 6 figure salaries). Gee, I wonder why their revenue was down...

From my very limited experience with ESPN - I have only watched it once, at a sports bar in Denver- I would have thought it would have also broadcast televangelist shows or some such back to the Bible late night entertainment.

Quote:

National anthem protests were the top reason that NFL fans watched fewer games last season, according to a new survey released by J.D. Power.

The pollster said it asked more than 9,200 people who attended either one football, basketball or hockey game whether they tuned into fewer games and why. Twenty-six percent of those who watched fewer games last season said that national anthem protests, some of which were led by Colin Kaepernick, were the reason.

Shocking.

It's a real shame when someone accidentally has to pay for their virtue signalling. Lloyd's of London should offer insurance against virtue signalling backlash. It's rare, but clearly can greatly impact one's finances.

And I think we should all take a long, hard look in the mirror if we were one of the ones who found Mr Kaepernick's behavior commercially unappealing.

Best to let Kaepernik fade away gracefully. He had more than his fifteen minutes of fame and it didn't work out for him. The jury spoke.

ESPN is doing what a company does when it is in pain, it is trying new ideas. I don't think people are going to watch more TV though. Good luck.
