I would have expected Russia's economy to be bigger.

Full article here.

It's easy to overestimate Russia. It's basically Nigeria with nukes.

"The rest of the world"? All of the continents except Antarctica are listed. That leaves islands, which makes me wonder how much money is really flowing into offshore accounts.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

Ok, that's nice, now do that chart on a per capita basis.

Doesn't make a lot of sense because GDP per capita is not a percentage.

But only a few countries of each continent are explicitly listed.

Cool graphic, though.
I like how it is much more readable than the equivalent traditional pie chart.

It must be an interesting problem to map the numbers to areas on that circle. Percentage rectangles are somewhat similar, but this one looks cooler

It only lists select countries from various continents so, for example, Ecuador would be in 'rest of world'.

Also, there is no Asia continent and Europe continent. There is only Eurasia.

I don't like it much. Presumably the area allocated to each country is proportional to its percentage. But the irregularly shaped areas are hard to compare (even regularly shaped areas would not be particularly easy to compare). For example, if the numbers weren't shown, would it be easy to estimate the ratio of United Kingdom's percentage to South Korea's percentage? Or would it be easy to see which of Sweden and Denmark has the larger percentage?

In my opinion if you have to list the individual numbers on a graphic in order for it to be useful then it's not a good graphic.

The size and power of the made up and agreed on boundary of the USA seems like an accident of history. Too bad for the rest of the world. Europe couldn't even hold together that mockery of our greatness known as the EU.

We got all self-destructive with that whole civil war thing but at least we managed to hold it together.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?
